I'm not much of a DC fan, Batman is about it.  Well, they also have Wonder Woman who I like.

I'm more into Marvel, I love the X-Man and Black Cat and SIlver Sable from Spider-Man are awesome.  Also, DC seems afraid to have strong looking female characters.  Whereas Marvel has a number of them.

Nice piece.  I was only made aware of the Teen Titans because of the cartoon, I'm just not that big on comics.  It'd just be a nightmare due to my condition because my goal I know would be impossible.  So, I try not to collect stuff.

Black Cat/ Cat Woman

Except Black Cat is buff and Catwoman is lithe.

that's not really true, besides WW, you have PG, Donna Troy, Big Barda, Renee Montoya, Cassandra Cain, Lady Shiva, many others.  Also Birds of Prey is one of the most critically regarded mainstream books.

about comic deaths....wow that was fast! Last year they offed Cable last year but apparently he's coming back lol. There's actually quite a lot of fan support for Ben Reilly's return.

Back in the old days, the joke was always "No one stays dead in the Comics except Bucky" and that changed years ago.

Yeah lol I remember that, it's just a convention to be expected just like character retcons. The Beyonder had been famously retconned quite a number of times. In his preretcon days, he was thrashing Celestials and forcing Death to commit suicide  and making suns and galaxies explode just by thinking lol. His character and origin have gone through numerous changes and now he's an Inhuman lol.

Okay, I'll give you Power Girl and Cassandra Cain. But I still don't think you understand exactly what I mean.

Also, in the cartoons Wonder Woman is toned down, but that's not entirely true with the Marvel cartoons and Black Cat and She-Hulk in this cartoon clip is muscular as all hell.

You mean like more hulking masses? Tonal size or definition doesn't determine power. Pre-crisis Superboy and Supergirl were doing sh*t like pulling planets on a chain (literally lol). But DC has plenty of female characters who are more buff than lithe

In comics you don't need bulking muscles to have strength. Here's Supergirl throwing an object with such force that it breaches the time barrier and travels forward 1000 years in the future lol

Also, I'd put this Aunt May against most Marvel/DC female characters lol

Heh even Bucky's current death as Captain America didn't stick. He's already back from the dead.

I had to stop Collecting right after DC's "Blackest Night" story-line...Has anyone come back to life in the DCU since that? I know everything changed up a bit with the "New 52" mess, but I think that "Blackest Night" was supposed to remain in the new continuity.

I liked "Blackest Night" because Johns did a great job working why no one was staying dead there into a pretty good Story.

@RPGamer13: I'm afraid I'm missing your point...do you mean women that simply look strong or are strong Physically and in Spirit? I think DC did a pretty good job of turning Barbara Gordon into a very strong female role-model after she was paralyzed by The Joker in "The Killing Joke"...she overcame the depression that goes with something like that happening to a person to become Oracle who was arguably the single most important person in the DCU.

I haven't followed Marvel in years, so I didn't even know they pulled the same gag with him twice! That's kind of sad...like Spider-Clone level sad! lol

So what's everyone's favorite events? Mine is definatly Annihilation over at Marvel. And most of the rest of the Cosmic stuff has been awesome as well. Siege and Fear Itself both had some great moments, but Annihilation was just one Crowning Moment of Awesome after the next.

I feel you on stopping after BN. Tbh my interested waned a bit during BN and really plummeted during Brightest Day. I do like the overall theme of BN but the execution particularly regarding Nekron was off, since I had read all the earlier characterizations of Nekron.  I felt Marvel did the same with the Chaos King...Sinestro Corps War was amazing though...

Off all time or just relative recently? Off the top of my head I do have some favorite arcs:

Thor: Blood & Thunder - Thor in berserker mode and in possession of Power Gem + Infinity Watch + Thanos & Silver Surfer vs Odin = pure awesomeness

Need this.....

And yeah, all time.  I'm rather new to comics myself, so I'm more familiar with some of the newer tales.

I heard the Sinestro Corps was pretty great, but GL was never one of my favorite characters until Kyle came along...they really screwed the pooch at DC by bringing Hal back and doing it in the way they did...his becoming Paralax due to being pushed over the edge was an amazing tale and what he did in "Final Night" was a superb story of redemption, he was the only logical choice to replace James Corrigan as The Spectre, too and that Title was amazing...reducing it all to a flaw in the Ring was horrible! Dan Didio was the worst thing that ever happened to DC Comics!

I enjoyed "Blackest Night" because it was the first DC Event in a really long time where you didn't have to grab EVERY title to get the main Story...anything that took place outside the Blackest Night title itself only fleshed out the story.

Are you a Batman fan at all? There were some pretty awsome Batman events that were really well written. I loved the whole R.I.P. story-line...I know that not everyone did, but I thought what Morrison did by using aspects of things that happened in Batman titles 20 or 30 years earlier was some great writing.

It was sad but not in the usual way. Because of the Captain America movie they were pretty much forced into making Steve Rogers Cap again. (Can't have people being confused!) So they decided to make use of this and use Bucky's death as a cheesy way to make it look like the 'Fear Itself' crossover event had some high stakes to it. Bleh.

To answer the above question, I hate 'Events' with a passion for reasons like this. Give me a solid story thats contained in one series, not forced into endless cheesy crossover events. I hate them nearly as much as Reality TV. And thats a lot.

Anyway, Ed Brubaker,Cap's really great writer, undid the Fear Itself damage in a way that made sense, and Bucky will be getting his own Winter Soldier series starting next month. I was more than okay with them undoing his death because the death was incredibly stupid. (i.e. showing no common sense and engaging a Thor-level villain in direct hand to hand combat.)

What Marvel/DC cosmic characters are you most interested in? Perhaps I can recommend arcs you might enjoy.

@Jack: Ed Brubaker is an amazing writer! Did you happen to read any of his run on Catwoman? He did some great work on Batman, as well...really did some great stuff, turning Gotham-based stories into some hard-boiled Crime Dramas!

Man, I miss going to the Comic Shop every Wednesday!

On Green Lantern, I felt the same way. Not because anyone lost the job when Hal came back but because it undid a good story. I felt exactly the same way when they undid Barry Allen's death. Stopped caring about both titles when they did that.

Never knew he did Catwoman but did read his Batman stuff. Probably one of my favorite writers currently working.

I really can't wrap myself around Barry Allen. I was so young when CoIE came out and though I understand the significance of his sacrifice, I grew up with Wally.
