Marvel and Disney arin't stupid. If Mickey makes an appearance it will be a character watching cartoons or a funny issue that isn't part of the continuity.

I got a friend of mine who bought a truckload of Marvel Essentials a few years back, maybe I borrow a few of them and start reading comics.

Too much pop culture to not know about.

I've heard from someone I know (who's much more knowledgeable about comics than myself) that it's utter tripe, but to be honest? I don't care. X-23, Mercury, Pixie. I don't need any more reasons to buy it! Plus it makes a change from Deadpool.

Pixie... really?!

I've always been more into independent comics, but Elektra & Spider-Woman are really great Marvel comics. They feature morally complex, darker protagonists rather than the usual cheesy & one-dimensional superheroes (then again, I really like the entire Secret Invasion plotline of Avengers, Black Panther & Ms Marvel comics). Marvel publishes Dark Tower comics as well, which is grand.

I liked the early Ultimate universe spiderman back in the day.

now I roll with Y: the last man, and some of DC's more interesting stuff.

of course, nothing will ever replace Watchmen as my #1...

You bring DC to this topic?

THIS. IS. MARVEL! *Punt*

In Marvel news; Pixie Strikes Back shipped five days early ^_^

I talked about marvel... I said that I used to like it.

you can't talk about Marvel without talking about other comic makers. its like talking about paragon shepard without mentioning renegade shepard.

admittedly, the setup for civil war intrigued me, but when I read it I felt like it was executed poorly.

At least DC Comics kind of manages to keep continuity in their comics. Marvel had to create their Marvel Multiverse because they couldn't keep up with their own creations & recreations of superhero stories and were forced to explain it by using different versions of Earth.

Not to mention, Marvel 'borrowed' a helluva lot from DC. E.g. Hawkeye (Green Arrow), Avengers (Justice League America), Captain Marvel (Supermap), Spiderman (The Tarantula), and the list goes on.

All in all, DC >> Marvel

The only DC (except imprints like Wildstorm) I'm thinking about getting is the Wonder Woman reboot (Yay! Non-Scantily clad women!), but everything else is (to me) dull. Superman is dull, Supergirl is Superman but female, and in nothing but a bra and mini-skirt, Batman isn't a superhero - he's just a bloke with a lot of money and toys. That said, I care little for a fair few Marvel heroes too - Cappy A doesn't interest me (will watch the film, though), Spiderman is overused and boring.

If I had to choose between both, it'd have to be Marvel. Deadpool, Great Lakes Avengers, Lady Deadpool, Deadpool Corps, Marvel Her-Oes, X-Force, various X-Men comics (Note: Not really an X-Men fan), Thor and a few others just win it for me, though. Oh, X-23 <3

Same goes for Iron Man, Elektra, Black Widow, Nick Fury, etc. They're still superheroes because their technology and/or training made it possible for them to compete with superheroes possessing genuine superhuman abilities (though in some cases they come either from alien technology or some superserum).

Is Black Widow ever referred to as a superhero, though? It's like when people call Deadpool a superhero - He's not. He's a mercenary, hence the nickname "Merc with a Mouth".

I meant to say Black Cat, actually.

But on the other hand, Black Widow has been a member of the Avengers. But she's more of a super secret-agent.

So Pixie Strikes Back! arrived this morning. Pretty good, but not perfect. Wasn't a fan of how the art style was seemingly schizophrenic. I'm not sure how "canon accurate" it is, as I don't read X-Men, but it's still a good lil' read.

Marvel is pretty good with continuity, I wouldn't worry about that.

Iron Man is the only super hero you mentioned.

Elektra is a merc. Widow is a secret agent. Fury is a solider. They can be heros, but they arin't super heros.

I'm more of a dc fan, especially since civil war and that skrull crap. Lately, however, I'm reading a ton of Marvel. For example: All the Avengers books, all the X-men books, all the Ultimate universe books, the Hulk books, Fantastic Four, Shield, and the current Marvel Zombies. The only major ones that are missing are Punisher (I will get to), Daredevil (ditto), and Spiderman (I get enough of him in the Avengers, the Ultimate U, and his team up book with Wolvie).

Why Marvel? Why?! Yeah, that about sums it up for me. I liked his alien suit black costume for its minimalist and sleek approach to design. It was simply elegant. This outfit feels more gaudy with the green light strips. It reminds me of one of those glow in the dark comics or toys you need to leave out in the sun so they can shine a faint green in darkness. Just... not as faint in this case. :P
