Awesome your drawings deserve a thread of their own.

You should pass this to a newspaper they'll probably print it in their comics page, and you get tto spread environmental awareness as well.

no such thing, only a handful of scientists know the entire facts,...Gore is a moron, polar bear are more numerous now than 20 years ago...wake-up and smell the coffee!

I would urge anyone, on any side of the issue, to educate themselves on the facts beyond the hype, which you can find on both sides to a degree. Accepting the reality of global warming does not mean being a Gore fan, or even listening to anything he's saying - he's not a climate scientists. Similarly, on the denier side, look at whether people are actually climatologists, to see if they have some professional qualifications. Not having those qualifications doesn't mean you're full of crap, but it does put your statements under a suspicious light if they contradict the consensus opinions of actual professionals working in the field.

There's a great video series on the whole issue by a YouTuber that goes by the name of "Potholer54". You can find the playlist here. It is thoroughly researched, well presented and sober. Kicks both Gore and the "climate change swindle" guys out of the park. I hope you do watch these.

As for trumpeting a heatwave as evidence of "global warming", or, conversely, trumpet a cold spell as "proof" that global warming isn't happening.... that's a fallacy.

But maybe we should avoid getting into this debate - it's lockdown
territory for sure.

Whatever you believe or don't, I'm still melting here. :pinched:

I am blaming the heat on the oil spill. Why not?

We should have listened to Steve Martin, and invested more in car seats as a source of energy storage.

you people would vaporize in the summer heat here in arizona. yesterday it reached a high of 113ºF. it's supposed to be around that today, tomorrow, monday, tuesday, and wednesday.

I might just vaporize at the thought of that. :crying:

But then again, that's probably close to the temperature in my optimally heat-absorbing aparment. :pinched:

I bet, however, that you in Arizona might just freeze solid if you had to contend with the kind of winter temperatures we get here every now and then.... like last winter when we had a record amount of snow and temperatures down below -30 C (-22 F). That was a bit... chilly. B)

as long as it's dry cold, it doesn't really bother me. i've been to the great white north during the winter and even drove a semi-truck at about 80,000lbs gross vehicle weight over a frozen lake. another instance in the cooold temps. it was dry and actually became much more cold 45mins after i took that pic. i couldn't snap off photos because i was going through mountain passes that were completely iced over.

Yes, like with heat, if it's dry it's much easier to handle. Also, the windchill becomes a big factor once you go down into really low temperatures.

The worst I rember was when I was in the army, stationed on a small fortified island out at sea, with high winds and humid air, and close to -30 in temperature. And I had to hike across the island (fortunately, not that long a hike), for a task that needed doing.

Man that was the coldest I've ever felt. Kept thinking that if I'd slip and break my leg, I'd be dead before anyone came to look for me.

But the point is that in locations where you don't expect long hot and humid heat waves, whenever you get such exceptional weather, it's more difficult than WORSE heat at a location where such thigns are expected. We do have central heating everywhere because of the potential for harsh winters - but just about nobody here has AC, or fans because heat waves are rare, and when they do come, they rarely get up to 30 C, and almost never last this long.

Stores and importers are out of fans, and it'll take a week or two for new shipments to get into stores. But if the forecasters are correct, this heat wave may well extend that far, at least.

That is what matinee's were for when living in Tempe! Plus the Cook On Your Sidewalk recipes: Sun Tea, Cored Apples w/ cinamon, etc. Mmmm!

Still, the bright white sunlight bouncing off all the Vanilla colored stucco gave me migraines. Not good at all....

the mid-80's is nothing. just take this opportunity to hit up the nearest fountain, pool, lake, or bathtub. on the other hand, if it's also humid, it'll really suck.

When it's hot it's the perfect time for mimosas, gin & tonics and mint juleps. Sliced garden tomatoes and cucumbers served cold with a little salt and melon for dessert.

All I had for dinner tonight was chilled blueberries over shortcake with a light grand marnier sauce. Somewhat sweet, but not very filling and quite tasty. Iced tea to drink and life is good!

meh, its just a regular summer over here wherever I am. we have hot, and not too hot days. besides, we can always jump into a pool if it gets too unbearable.
