First off I'm just going to say I'm not trying to whine or complain, I'm just asking a simple question. So please, no flaming me. Please?

OK, so first off I love DAO even if it "inferior" to the PC version. I have all the DLC exept Awekening because I refuse to pay £32 for the PSN version and there is no Disc version in EU.

So, that out of the way. Your support for the PS3 version of DAO has been, no offence, poor. Patches have been few and far between and DLC has been bugged with no fix or response from bioware. EU customers looking forward to Awekening were hugely let down with no Disc version and only a large PSN version with a hefty price (SONYs fault not yours). Do you have any plans to change this for DA2?

Please don't take offence to this post. I'm trying to troll and I'm very excited about DA2.

I won't complain about your opinion because you are allowed to have it. ;)

As for PS3 support...i hate to continue to have to say this, but i'm afraid that it's more then likely the PS3 hardware itself that is making things difficult on Bioware as far as support goes. I give Bioware a pat on the back for not saying anything, but if they did that would be my first guess as to pointing to the biggest hurdle they have.

Not that i have to point this out, but patching games isn't exactly like putting a 2 piece puzzle together either. All it takes is a PS3 firmware patch to swing the game out of it's proper line. It also pays to remember that this isn't the only game or piece of hardware that Bioware has to deal with. Patience is a key as well.

I just got finished playing Leliana's new DLC, and i can say what i saw bodes well for DA2 in my opinion. Just looking at the improvements on Leliana's character model alone gave me the feeling that they are getting much better at working the hardware.

Let me bottom line this....when Sony says they are looking for developer opinion regarding developement of the next PlayStation hardware, well....i think that speaks volumes in itself about the current hardware. That's not to say that the PS3 is a bad thing, on the contrary, it's more along the lines of difficult.<_<

As it is, from screens i saw between the PS3 and 360 version they were about equal(i tend to think the PS3 version looked slightly better). Even being able to have EA's previous PS3 experience to help development i still think for a 1st run PS3 game this is pretty damn good. However, I'll keep my expectations for DA2 tempered.

I always prefer to expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised....or in the case of DA:O left wanting more.

No mods

fewer patches, patches have less fixes

fewer bug workarounds

fewer updates in the PS3 forum

etc..

That is the PS3 support model, less of everything, same price for the game

I think you are right and the support for PS3 has been really bad.

Case in point being the copy-protected savefile that's also linked to your hardware. WTF. We are then told that this was a demand from Sony (which anyone can figure out is not true), and eventually a dev tells a forumite through pm (some 7 months later!) that it was "too late for DA:O". So it's not too late if they have DLC to sell to you -and we are told more is coming- but it is too late to help you preserve your saves from hardware failure.

The kicker is just how simple it is to patch copy protection out of a game...

Fexelea, not only saves are copy protected, but also number of characters is limited. Seriously, what dunghead came up with the idea? I mean, even Ubisoft's new DRM sounds good on paper. Locked saves + character limit is **** no matter on paper, in reality or on elephant dung paper.

To reply to all those above, my limited experience with video games and support issues are that they are generally handled with less efficiency & urgency than that of other types of software one would purchase.I have noticed a significant difference in quality in the patches released - I am now trying to get the "Blight Queller" trophy by playing offline with all the patch data deleted; thus the work that they do manage to accomplish has been of good quality.
That being said though, and highlighted through Haexpane's comments, the level of PS3 support has been underwhelming and might result in myself and a few close to me (who have the option) to purchase DA2 on the 360.

Yeah I really don't want to switch to XBX for the DA2 game, not a big fan of XBLG and the controller. But I do have an XBOXElitePhat for ME etc..

Actually the only reason why I got DAO and other games that require a lot of time is due to the fact that I'm scared of my Xbox flashing it's three-red-rings at me again. What the PS3 lacks in technical support from developers, it makes up in hardware reliability and thus the end consumers peace of mind during the products life span...
