 I have been duped, yet again, by the magic of my xbox! Fate has blind sided me yet again by barring me of my joyful gaming experiences. What was started as a nice, quiet, summer afternoon of video gaming, had turned into a month long, hair pulling, rant conjuring debacle. 

It's been many months since I conquered evil and brought peace back to Ferelden. The school semester has ended and I found myself blissfully wasting my summer days. I decided it was time to re-up my services to the Grey Wardens and begin my campaign anew. Unfortunately the gods of gaming did not look kindly on me that midsummer afternoon.

Whilst attempting to start a new game I was hit by an unlikely foe. "Unable to load save game as the required downloadable content is not present on the selected storage device. Please insert a storage device containing the required downloadable content, or download the downloadable content again."

Right now you might be shouting "Garrett, you sexy, devilish, bastard, I thought they fixed that long ago, and all you had to do was delete your data and redownload it!"

True, they did find a fix for "that thing," but my concerns are more sinister. I have never, nor ever plan to, download any additional content. I paid for my game once, and I am quite content on just playing "vanilla."

As you can see my conundrum is more baffling than initially expected. I can't seem to play the game without the DLC that never existed. 

I have tried all means of fixes to allow me to play my game. I have deleted all saved games, regrettably, removed storage devices and other peripherals, even disconnected myself from internet access. I am still using the same GamerID, so there is no change there. I have even initiated contact TWICE with the EA Costumer Support, yet no one seems to have the answer. It has been several weeks and it doesn't look like I will find an answer. This post is my last attempt for salvation before I move on and do other things like read a book or, god help me, go outside.

TL;DR: For those without the patience to read it all, first I pity you. Second, I got the "Unable to load save game as the required downloadable content is not present on the selected storage device" message, even though I don't own any DLC.

Hopefully someone in this fine community can find a solution to my problem.

The last time I saw this message, the dialog box reported exactly what it thought was missing (e.g. "The Edge" or "Embri's Many Pockets"). Did you get any indication of what DLC the game is trying to find?

It's also possible that there's something goofy on BioWare's end. I note that one of the fixes in the coming patch is "Resolved some authorization issues with downloadable content." Details below:
