it comes across as nitpicking. they are not restricted to just the dragon age. they can do whatever they want. it's just a name. it's not a big deal. subtitle is just an idea. they don't HAVE to. can't they just simply call it Dragon Age 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc?mr_luga wrote...

but it's about name recognition. if the stop using the name dragon age they risk losing sales, which does not help the long term future of the product either -snip-Ulicus wrote...
Well, clearly -- to me -- it does. Why even ask? You don't care? Awesome sauce. Good for you 'n all that rot. I still do. *shrug*bzombo wrote...
does it really matter?
Which is why I said the problem with Dragon age, is the nameIf it was named something diffrent, this woudnt have been an issue. Obviously this thread is just semi-serious, it's not like I want bioware to swap names or anything now, it's just, frustrating for me to see it be so restricted in that age. I know you can make alot of stories in those 100 years, but having so many big things to happend in those 100 years is just.. It dosnt fly well with me.
I like things to span a long time![]()
The witcher, for example, is stuck with Witchers, another limit with the name. But it can take place in any time though since it's not named after a time(Like Dragon Age is)
I'm not sure why people seem to think it's okay to name Dragon age with a subtitle with a diffrent age.
It soudns wrong like "Dragon age: Dark age; It's not the dragon age anymore, it's the dark age, but we call it dragon age anyways, yay"
The biggest problem with Dragon age IP

Well it's not like the IP has to keep using the label "Dragon Age." If they want to move on to a new age, they can just use the name of that age instead, or another name entirely... the only thing they have to do is stay within the same setting, the same world (..or do they? As someone suggested previously on these boards: Darkspawn in Space! Yeah!).

Yeah well you and I both are fine and would like that, im guessing EA and the PR people do not, since they like to ride on the name and it's success.
Which again, is why I say the biggest problem with Dragon age, is it's name

I don't know if anyone's mentioned anything like Elder Scrolls, or Zelda, but there are plenty of artifact titles that don't apply always. Once the IP is established and popular, people buy it for its reputation, not the accuracy of a title they've never played.

That's a good point. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening/Majora's Mask/etc. had nothing to do with Princess Zelda.

I still vote for 'There Might Be Mages'.
There Might Be Mages IV: Perhaps There's Prestidigitators!
There Might Be Mages V: Suppose There Are Sorcerers?
There Might Be Mages VI: Wherefore Are There Wizards?
Really, though, Baldur's Gate wasn't limited to the city of Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter nights wasn't limited to just the city of Neverwinter. the Jade Empire was big enough to accommodate a variety of plots, and the Old Republic has had two games full of Knights thereof, comic book series, and an upcoming MMO to play with.
don't let the finiteness of the tern fool you. There's 100 years and an entire world of stories to explore.
I love you guys so freaking much.

To put it in a fantasy-related context, many of the major storylines set in the Forgotten Realms have, so far, mostly occurred within the same century--the 1300s DR (Dale Reckoning). And there's a lot of stuff out there.
The events of DAO took, what, roughly one year? Don't worry. There's
plenty of room for all kinds of adventures.

Historically, though, big events do tend to happen in clusters. World War I, the Depression and World War II didn't all occur within a span of 30 years through coincidence. They're interconnected in a pretty significant way.
And even if they are not, NWN:HOTU/SOU did not take place in Neverwinter.... The only connection to NWN we had was rumours about what went on there.... AND I enjoyed th game none the less!!!
