I was searching around and saw a few sites referring to Mass Effect 3 having the possibility to use Kinect.
A comment by Greg Zeschuk:

"The new motion controls are very interesting and quite powerful.
Phase one of those is the dancing, fitness and party games
, the
sword-swinging games.
The next phase is where it gets really interesting when developers
like us can tear it all down and ask: ‘What can we actually do in a game like Mass
Effect?’ Can we create a greater sense of immersion during conversations
by using gestures?

I think we probably could and I think that’s where we’ll explore.
We’re not going to do a party  game, we’re
not going to do Dance Dance Krogan for Mass Effect. The reality is it’s
going to have a really positive impact
."

Whether it does or does not, what are your thoughts on it? For better or for worse?

I apologize if this is in the wrong part of the forum

I hope not. I don't think the Kinect will really give much to ME3. The most I can think of are cumbersome and slippery controls. Kinect I feel is more for the 1st person Genre.

I think that was likely just an example. As in, how can we integrate motion controls into different genres of games. Most of the games available for such things now are sports or dance games. It would be interesting to see how it could be used in a shooter, puzzle game, RPG, adventure, whatever. I doubt he meant to say ME3 would use Kinect.

I really hope that it does not occur. First off, it takes longer to make. Secondly, what will happen if my "gestures" are really offensive (you know what I mean). This also prevents those that like using a controller from being able to play as easily. In total, I believe that it would be a really bad idea for the developers to make.

It would defiantly make the game more interactive. I can see them incorporate the motion technology with the Paragon and Renegade interruptions.

I do not see this happening unless it's in some sort of DLC. They will sell far less copies of ME3 due to people not willing to drop the money for Kinect. Also, I do not see how that would integrate smoothly with the PC version.

This would definently make the parents happy.... ME3 makes children threaten and kill innocents for fun will probably be the interpretation. Renegade would have to mellow out for this to occur. Also, can you think of yourself miming shooting a person in the head, I doubt it.

I want to play Dance Dance Krogan! :D

On a more serious note, I think Kinect will be a cool feature, but for Mass Effect 3..... I'm not sure. It'd be interesting to see how players can shoot and handle a gun and be tactical in the Mass Effect way without a controller. I just don't know if it can be done. That part about gesturing during conversations, though, that could be fun.

That's what I thought, but save it for another new game, not one that's going into the final chapter. The thought of having to drop money to buy that for my xbox isn't too appealing either, I'd barely have enough just to buy the game.

Actually you legally need to be 17 to buy the game. If the parents don't like the game they shouldn't let their kids play it. The solution isn't to ruin mature people's enjoyment because parents want the video game companies to censor material not for their kids.

That being said, I'm against Kinect in ME3.

If they implement it as a control option i would'nt mind,i doubt very much it will be something you have to use.

I doubt that they will risk the third and most crucial game in their franchise on motion control.

Probably wont use Kinect unless Microsoft encourage them to, and even then it will likely be used for no more than an optional control scheme or to operate a minigame or something. The primary control scheme will still be the controller.

Kinect is a cool idea but I see its application as better for casual, party titles, that and as a navigational and interaction tool, rather than a base control scheme for more complicated games. But hey, if BioWare want to support it then more power to them. I'll be getting ME3 on PC so it doesn't phase me.

On the subject of new toys though, I'd love it if BioWare looked into making a Mass Effect spin-off story/game for the 3DS. Not neccessarily the same scope or genre as Mass Effect as we know it, but something to expand the franchise. 'Twould be rad.
