ME3 use Kinect

=

MerinTB not buying ME3.

Simple. Whether they care if I buy it or not is up to them.

I was searching around and saw a few sites referring to Mass Effect 3 having the possibility to use Kinect.
A comment by Greg Zeschuk:

"The new motion controls are very interesting and quite powerful.
Phase one of those is the dancing, fitness and party games
, the
sword-swinging games.
The next phase is where it gets really interesting when developers
like us can tear it all down and ask: ‘What can we actually do in a game like Mass
Effect?’ Can we create a greater sense of immersion during conversations
by using gestures?

I think we probably could and I think that’s where we’ll explore.
We’re not going to do a party  game, we’re
not going to do Dance Dance Krogan for Mass Effect. The reality is it’s
going to have a really positive impact
."

Whether it does or does not, what are your thoughts on it? For better or for worse?

I apologize if this is in the wrong part of the forum

:wizard:

I doubt that they will risk the third and most crucial game in their franchise on motion control.

They dont have to risk anything. Why does everyone assume that if they implement kinect that it will mean they will only be able to use kinnect?.
I'm a PC user so it would'nt bother me one way or another but if they added some cool features for kinnect users that would'nt be a problem for me,i would still be able to play with mouse and keyboard and Xbox users that did'nt have kinect would still be able to use their controller.

I'm not against optional control.

Means more options

However making it make sense with a 3D camera?

That is a problem.

If it's optional, whatever. If it is only Kinect with control as sloppy as as Wii controls are said to be, then they are losing a sale.

Wii controls are only bad if they are poorly implemented. In RE4 and No More Heroes they are implemented well and enhance the game past what you can do with a standard controller. For Twilight Princess they are tacked on and hurt the game.

I wouldn't mind Kinect being integrated into ME3 as part of a UI that was sort of similar to the Haptic displays in the ME-verse and maybe as part of the hacking minigames, but that's it. It should probably be a Day One DLC thing, so that they don't waste disc space on it and so whoever doesn't have Kinect won't have to feel like they're missing out.

As long as it is optional, I wouldn't mind.

But they should test it extensively first before making any attempts to include it in ME3. I doubt it would fit in a game like this o.o

I agree Shin-Anubis, whatever happens it must be optional. Now let's think about some of the minigames that could implement it.

Might be very interesting.

I doubt it will be in ME3 it may be used for another Mass Effect branded game though. One that is built with that tech in mind and not designed and then modifed for Kinect.

No thanks, connect looks bad enough as it is, I wouldn't want it to ruin a perfectly good franchise. Playing any game that isn't specifically designed for Kinect will never feel right, I really don't see the point in 'You are teh contrulher, herp derp". I buy games so I can relax and spend my time having fun, not flailing my arms around like some sort of lunatic. Exactly why I didn't buy a Wii. More time spent on making a game that only a tiny fraction of the playerbase will actually use is never a good idea, sure some people might see how it feels but I seriously doubt that anyone will actually extensively use Kinect while playing Mass Effect...

I would rather eat my own arm then be forced to use anyform of motion control to play any game, especially a ME3.

No. Because not everyone will have Kinect, and Bioware said they will develop the franchise within the 360's life time. Specifically so people wouldn't have to buy another console to play it. It's the same with buying Kinect. Besides, what would they even use it for??? They make RPGs.

I believe that Kinect has some great potential in the gaming industry but for a game like Mass Effect, I just see that failing. You half to remember, Kinect isn't even out yet, could have some glitch to prevent accurate play, and it's relatively new tech for the 360. It could take years before it's capable to play RPGs games like ME. A first and easy problem is that a gamer may not want to take the time to calibrate the sensor to himself and in turn may create un-synched movements between the player and the game.

My face on Shepard's body... Dear God, that would put me into ever lasting laughing fits for weeks.
