i recieved my copy of Gameinformer the other day and in the Screenshots the Sword Hawke was wielding looked Incredibly Similar To Asala(Sten's Sword) which makes me wonder if thats the same Sword? if so how did Hawke come Across it?

It's possibly generic Qunari sword from the DA:O, like one you can buy from the vendor outside Orzammar outside of Sten's quest. Asala just happens to have the same model (unsurprisingly so)

If you go by the description in game it seems likely, yes:

"A great blade plundered by the qunari during their first invasion of Thedas, this was granted to Sten by the arishok upon being given his mission to journey into human lands."

but the model assigned to it is also assigned to regular "Qunari Sword" item.

Did Sten was alone when he arrived in Lothering.
Does it is not said that a group of Qunari came in Ferelden to see what is a Blight?
If so, perhaps it could be the sword of a Sten's brother?

The Free Marches are much closer geographically to the Qunari than Ferelden. In fact timeline that was just released mentioned the Qunari occupied Kirkwall, I'm pretty sure that means we will see a couple of Qunari weapons and armors in game.

Sten did say the Qunari would Conquer Fereldan soon maybe they would retake Kirkwall and use it a a Base to Gather there Troops?

Don't think they have gotten that far just as yet. The Exalted Marches pushed them back, I would think....they are mostly fighting the Imperium at this point I believe.

I think the reason Asala uses the Qunari Sword model is because it's a Qunari sword.





Just a guess, though..

I actually did not realize that Hawke was running around with Asala until I saw the GameInformer screenshots. I suspect it is simply a case of the real weapon not being in the game yet. But my imagination likes to make it go like this:

First Biowarian: We need something awesome for the player to use as a weapon while we're working on final weapon art. What have we got that's awesome?
Second Biowarian: Sten!
First Biowarian: So I checked, and apparently it's not possible for the player to weild Sten as a weapon. What's the next best thing?

What are you, kidding me?  Look at that beard!  Hawke can wield anything as a weapon.
