While I know that there are apparently people who found the tactics screen in DA overly complex, I'll admit that I personally found it frustratingly simple.  There was simply no good way to set up complex orders.

What I personally would like is the ability to write my own AI scripts (ala Baldur's Gate, although with a less messy and more powerful scripting language preferably.)  I know this is probably a pipedream, however, so I'd hope that we can at the very least have more complex conditions that allow for simple logic operations (and/or at the least.)

Is something like this potentially in the works?  If not...could it be?

Can we? Yes. Will we? Who knows. However they are pushing a "Think like a general and fight like a Spartan with dynamic new combat mechanics". So prob the combat will be dif from DAO anyway.

You can simulate AND and OR conditionals using structure and jumps if you want to in DA:O, but in my opionion, using IF/OR/IF conditionals the way the book is setup is way more effective and efficient.

I haven't seen DA2's tactics system myself, but I've had conversations with the dev team, and know that it is one of their favorite parts of Origins, so they'll do it justice in DA2. We ran a feedback thread on Tactics some months ago, and I know they got some good insight from it. At some point, I'm looking forward to getting more info about it here on the social site.

How about Console versions?

KOTOR had the ability to queue up 3 actions at a time, simple, effective, deep and controller friendly

That was the writers' team favourite.
