I really, really hope there will be more romance options for DA2.
It would be intresting if the were a few NPC's that you could hook-up with and not just members of your party.
And I hope they keep the male/male and female/female romance options like the did with DA:O.

I've never been a fan of the in-game romances, but I would assume that with the way that they have designed DA2 (More focused on the character than some grand and exalted mission to save the world, from all accounts), there will be more meaningful relationships.

To put some variety in my DA:O run-throughs, I did one or two of the romances and for some reason they just struck me as being somewhat shallow overall. Kind of like "I like your shoes. Here's a bunny. Let's bang."

I'm just not a fan of them in DA:O (Or Mass Effect) since during the whole thing I just kept thinking "Don't you have something more important to be doing? Like, hm... saving the universe, rather than getting to work repopulating it instead?" Their contingency plan was lacking. :P

But like I said, more focused on character development and the narrative in DA2, sounds like, so I'm not sure about more relationships, but I would definitely be expecting more personally meaningful relationships.

The more romance the better I say. But at the same time over do it and it just gets silly. What I would like to see since the game spans like 10 years is the option to like marry someone like 1/3rd of the game through and then play out the story like that. Would be fun.

I agree that having too much romance would spoil the game for some. But it would be nice to have moe choice in who your character likes and so on. And because the game takes place over a 10 year period, romances will have the time to build up (or down, depending on your actions?) and seem more natural and less shallow then it was in DA:O.

guess there will be more companions, so there will be more romance options. i could imagine that youre romance option and youre friends sticks with you through the game while the rest may leaves you at some point.

It will be interesting to see how/if they are affected by the 10-year time span...

In an ideal world, almost every character would be technically romanceable. Of course, in that world, romances also wouldn't just simply happen cause you're nice to someone. But if you had your sights set on charming Shale, you should be able to at least try. Whether Shale would show interest and how fulfilling an in this case purely spiritual connection would be is an entirely different matter.

On the downside, this would probably take up too much time to set up and detract from other parts of the game.

Yes, definitely more romance options needed and for same sex too. Only Zevran for guys and Leliana for chicks sucked. I wanted girl on girl action with Morrigan and manlove with Alistair.

Perhaps there shouldn't be too much of a focus in "romancing", this time over?

People tend to become rather singleminded, and loud, about this feature. Luckily DAO was spared the plague of Talimancers which continues to stink up the Mass Effect fandom...

An RPG should always have some kind of distraction from the main story for a while. Coz whats the fun in just killing darkspawn, leveling up and doing a few chantry board quests all the time?

I honestly think they should totally make LOTS of romance options and real life situations this time, though I would prefere if they could make inter-party relationships again. Perhaps they could even bring in some of the hunky characters that u couldn't romance in Origins - Awakening like Sir Gilmor, Nathaniel Howe and Anders. Now that would be interesting. :)
