Well, since ME2 (N7 armor) as well as DAO at least allowed me to simply not wear a helmet, the absense of a helmet toggle was bearable.
However, I'd simply prefer an option with "show helmet", "hide helmet" and "hide helmet in cutscene" - to each their own, and nothing to complain about.

YES

This was not a "feature" of Mass Effect 2. It was something they forgot to fix. when the game came out EVERYONE was complaining about the Blood Dragon helmet appearing in conversations.

Everyone was complaining, but at no point has BioWare said anything other than "it's supposed to do that".

The ability to tint the armour was actually pretty nice. I remember how in ME the Colossus armour looked terrible on my female Shepard because that bright red just didn't suit her colouring. I quite enjoyed being able to change the colour of Shepard's N7 armour in ME2.

It is a good feature. I always appreciate it when game designers take the time to allow us to use different tints and skins on the armor meshes. To be honest, in both games I ranked looks above use when deciding which armor to wear--the medium Mercenary suited my female renegade perfectly. Also, the armor system in ME2 sidestepped the issue that light and medium armors frankly didn't look as good as the heavy armors.

I'd have appreciated it more if the colors in the menu that allowed you to tint looked the same in the actual game.  A lot of the colors looked terribly faded/washed out in the actual game, despite looking nice in the armor interface.

Anyway, I'd like to not have my helmet disappear if they don't keep making sets that require the helmet.  I like the open face helmets.  I very much dislike the closed face ones (but I'm not willing to forgo the set bonuses to use them.)  Essentially, I'd like to be able to keep my helmet on all the time if I'm allowed to wear a helmet I like without seriously hampering my character's combat abilities.

Unremovable helmets.

Yes, that's right.  I like those armour sets in ME2 where the helmet stays on all the time.

Specifically, I like them because I'm not fond of ME2 facial animations (Why is Shepard sneering all the time?  And I don't think her nose should bend like that.) so the armour sets with unremovable helmets allow me to hide those animations during conversations and cutscenes, thus solving the problem.

I would like, in DA2, to have the option to keep my characters' helmets on all the time.  I won't always use the feature, but it's a nice option to have, particularly if there's some sort of significant problem that can be hidden by using it.

That's nice. You're the only one that feels this way.

I recognise they're widely disliked, but the point here is that the consquences of this features weren't universally negative.

I think people too often focus on one aspect of a feature in a game, and declare that feature to be good or bad in all circumstances without looking closely at all the effects.

Not really. I never felt a need to cover my character's face, and in fact wore the sight visor thingy in ME2, but I enjoyed seeing my character actually wearing her headgear. I don't expect Bioware to actually do it, but I think a better way to do things would be to have the character holding their helmet at the side if they're going to take it off, or just raise the visor when applicable.

The DLC armour sets.  Since DAO (and presumably DA2) remove helmets for conversations, and I'd like to be able to avoid that (having my helmet flash in and out of existence was a bit jarring).

That the helmet stays as you set it was actually unknown to me (I've only just begun ME2).  I also can't imagine wanting my helmet to be invisible.

If you select the non-DLC armour you have two hemlet choices. The somewhat traditional helmet which has the open mouth-piece, and the breather helmet that appeared in ME only in inhospitable words.

I just didn't like the jump cuts in DAO where we'd be wearing helmets, and then suddenly we wouldn't.  And then we would.

I know BioWare has come to like a cinematic presentation, but post-modernist cinema isn't the right place to start.

I approve of this. Infact I want this. By this I mean a toggle, choice is always nice.

No they weren't. Many were yes, but not everyone. Exaggeration is always a bad thing.

No, he isn't.

This made me laugh out loud.

And really, isn't the toggle the ultimate solution to pretty much any desing conundrum?
