I was actually stuck at a part when I stopped playing. I beleive because of underpowered characters. Anyways I have pretty much no RPG experience besides Dragon Age Origins. Wonder if there is any easy to understand guides to help me out. I was a human warrior and usally had that dog, the templar, and the swamp witch with me (forgot their names). I pretty muched dumped points whereever and put no thought into what skills to presue.
If anyone could point me the right direction I would be grateful

As far as items, I enjoyed running a 100% Magic Immune design, so the Knight Commander plate sold in the Frostback Mts is my top pick for armor. You can look at alternative tanks on the Wiki for more info.

if alistar (the templar) dies quickly then put some points into his constitution... having a base constitution around 20 gets me around just fine for my soldiers. for me i like to focus on sustained abilities... just boost up my normal attacks and go on auto pilot... yeah it tends to get boring at times but in RTS games i turtle so its my style
As I prefer DEX and/or Willpower to avoid being hit.

I have to start a new game. So I guess I'm looking for just how to build them up the best way.Last Darkness wrote...

What Warden are you planing to be? class Origen, spec like if you were a warrior would you be sword and shield, 2hand, or duel wield. Want to be dps or tank. Etc
What characters do you want to bring and how do you want to play them?
There is no absolute "Best" setup. Be specific so we can give the specific information you need. Otherwise I would say do a google search and read about every origen, class, spec, and about all the characters on the dragon age wiki.

Alistair: raise strenght to 42 (I believe that's when you can put the best armor on, right?), the rest into dex. You don't want to raise constitution. It's better to avoid hits (dex) than take them (con). Give him Champion as the second specialization. The passive Weapon&Shield talents is what you’re aiming for.
Morrigan: magic all the way, with maybe some willpower if you don't want to use so many potions. Give her all cold spells and the whole telekinesis line (the one that ends with crushing prison). Mana Clash is great against mages, but I think you won't have enough points to get it if she's the only mage in your team.

I used Alistair almost always and gave him a sword and shield. Morrigan I used as to do death by magic I used her alot too. The fourth spot I had up for grabs. Either used the dog, Wynne, or shale. The dog seemed to dish out alot of damage and so did shale. Wynne I would usally take for heals if I kept dieing. I used Leliana for ranged damage.

Planning on a noble human warrior using a 2hand. I'd mix my party up sometimes. Is this a good idea or is better to use the to lvl up?

I recommend Lil for her Rogue talents. All that chest and trap XP adds up over the course of play.
2H is fun to play, but can be slow starting. Try and use the Sunders to speed action, as well as some of the other talents to alter the auto-attack routine.

As far as 2handers, you will likely be disappointed. Dual wield does way more damage in origins and anyone that tells you otherwise is clueless. Even my 26 dex/max str sword/shield templar (no defensive stance, played offensively) seemed to do as much damage as a 2handed user. The slow weapons just arent that great when you're low on stamina, and the sword/shield talents have better CC and still do good damage (overpower and assault). The runes are also a big reason to dual wield or sword/shield over using a 2hander.

DW warriors are the dps champs but 2handers are very good, too, and have the best crowd control with two-handed sweep, not to mention stunning blows and pommel strike. And dps = 0 while stunned or knocked down, which 2handers never are. There are really no stamina issues once you get death blow. Random70 did some excellent number-crunching in this thread:

And the #s suggest that 2h is BARELY ahead before you run a mage aura, then sword/shield takes the lead, the bard song would likely help that too. The tree is clearly broken when sword/shield can keep up with it without a real drawback. Indomitable is the only redeeming quality

1.) So is having a ranged attacker worth it? or is it better if I just have lil DW?
2.) Is it best to keep using the same four chars all the time?
3,) Is it a good idea to have Morrigan be able to heal or should I just use items? I plan on her being able to dish out magic damage.

1 - It is probably better to focus on one or the other, but it is possible to mix it and survive.
2 - I prefer to mix it up a little, as there is no best team AFAIK. Just remember to speak with everyone back in camp, and Lvl them all Up occasionally.
3 - I like giving all my mages the Heal spell, and Morrigan can make a fine Spirit Healer, too. But you may wish to limit her choices rather than taking all those healing related spells.
