As many of us know, at least I hope so, that DA2 will be following the story of Hawke, a survivor of the Blight as well as being a refugee of Lothering (Sorry fans, Hawke is not the God Baby of Morrigan).

However, what we don't know as of yet is the importance of bearing the title "Champion" in the Free Marches, Kirkwall to be exact.

So what does being Champion exactly mean for those that live in the Free Marches?? Does a Champion have a power of a king? Is it simply an honored title? Or is it something more?

Feel free to post what you think about being a Champion in the Free Marches really means.

P.S. If this question has already been answered then I am sorry..

I don't know.... My PCs were all Champions of Redcliffe. I guess it means they like you a whole lot, probably because you saved their bacon.

He probably unites them, leads them to war against some other nation, or, heck, maybe he invites the Qunari in and THEY call him the champion.

But it has to be something VERY significant if he is THE most important person in all of Thedas's history. Bigger than Andraste.

Very true, it obviously has to be something significant, but do we have any info on how the Free Marches government is structured?? I wonder if it is similar to Antiva's government, a fragmented country of city-states ruled by various wealthy kings.

Being champion? It means you wait two weeks for a horrible suit of armor, after saving the world.

Forget the armor, i'm still waiting on that next installment that has seems to be forgotten... <_<

Anywho, obviously it's going to be much more significant than being the champion of Redwall, but how much more significant is the big question..

Thinking about it....there are a few options that could possibly qualify as actually being the most important in Thedas ever, without destroying an ancient evil.

1. Causing the Qunari to win the war against the Imperium and head south to take on Orlais. Who would probably lose.....which means the Qunari become the dominant force in Thedas.

2. Convincing the College of Cumberland that autonomy is FTW and the Mages have a split with the Chantry...which would probably end with a disastrous war...Exalted March forces vs. an army of mages....

3. You drive the Qunari off the continent, for good.

4. You, somehow, gather an army and start conquering Thedas, ending with you eventually controlling the entire continent and Kirkwall is your capital.

5. You awaken/kill all the Old Gods at once.

That is all I can think of :?

I hope it means everyone will cheer for you, bow before you or crawl on all their 4 before you, and that you can have your personal realms and army with your personal CoA and flag.

Being champion or conqueror in most games only means a title and no reaction whatsoever from your surroundings

Possibly, I just wished Bioware would hurry up and release some more info already....

Oh and something totally off topic, has anyone noticed that Qunari and Quarian use the same letters??

If you are to be the most important person to ever live in all of Dragon Age history; I don't think that'll be the case

My guess is Hawke bands the Free Marches city states under his banner, than annexes Orlais, Ferelden, and Antiva creating an empire that puts Tiwinter to shame.

or something like that. People are still shell shocked from the Blight-that-almost-was. Perfect time for an Alexander/Napoleon/Ceaser type figure to rise.

It means people will call you Champion and you will still have to fetch stuff and kill people for them.

It means Sean Bean will save the world, then some elf will come and say "err thanks for the effort protagonist! Here's a meaningless title! Yes even more so that being the head of a guild." Golly I hope this thread doesn't just plunge into Oblivion jokes.
It's probably an ancient military rank, you'll save the city and the ruler will give it too you hoping to pawn you off. The rest of the game will detail you doing champion like stuff much to aforementioned local ruler's ire. That's my theory at least.
