I see a lot of complaining, but I for one am really happy about the news regarding Dragon Age II.

I would have loved to see my favourite Grey Warden go on with his adventures, see what happened to the respective romances and companions (get Morrigan back somehow :P), go on building this story... BUT...

The series of games is called Dragon Age, not The Grey Wardens. And right now we have this great and young fantasy world that we can get to know. By the time we start DA II we (as real life people) will personally know the king of Ferelden, the heroic Grey Warden, an important part of the story of Ferelden, Orlais and Tevinter, also the boss of the Circle down there... I like the idea of building from zero another scope of knowledge of the DA world, that will complement what we did with DA1. Besides, what would the Grey Warden do, fight another Blight? Within the same century? Anything else would be either anticlimactic, or ridiculously huge.

The people who made all the NPCs that we enjoyed so much can still make up more awesome ones, and well as all kinds of good plots. They have given me no reason to doubt that.

I can't help but think it's a great move to dissociate "Dragon Age" from "Grey Wardens", otherwise they would end up being the jedis of the DA world (in the SW world nothing else interesting seems to exist, if we look at the SW videogames that come out). Dragon Age can thus become something much bigger, it can become the D&D/FR of computer RPGs, and for that it is really necessary to develop the whole world and all of its potential.

Yay! :P

Reading the GI article really got me into it. I was already excited about the game, but after reading more about it (especially spell customization) I am finding March feels further away.

Forgot to add: the Odyssey-like strategy of telling the PCs story also seems a great idea.

All this discussion makes me wish the trailer could just be released already.

I hope it'll turn out good, but one cannot be too hasty and claim right out that it will be good. But hopefully it will be good.

I like how the little information revealed has exploded on the forums and people are jumping to conclusions. It's like ME, ME2, and DA:O all over again! Can't wait for the complaining threads after launch. I like it, because it certainly throws plenty of ideas around and you can find a really good discussion occasionally. Also, it causes Ser David "The Maker" Gaider post a lot. As well as Mary Kirby and others.

I'm certainly happy about it, wonder how the story with Hawke's sister works out, who the companions are, and if we can have a Tevinter mage companion. Also, I'm curious if they made the specializations better or not.

I'm excited.

Can't wait til' they release details on companions as well as characters that have already been announced. I'm especially curious as to what this "interest" Cassandra has in Hawke.

My guess? Political puppet, but that is a tad boring, maybe something else.

I need at least one post like this a day. Thank you. :)

It makes a nice complement to the tears, off which I think it's already been established we writers derive our primary substance. It's been a bit of a glutton's supper around these parts lately, let me tell you.

Well, I hope you and the rest of the team appreciate that we worry about the future of the franchise because we enjoyed the first game and we care.  I'm not crying, but I'm not as enthusiastic as I thought I would be when DA2 was announced.  I *want* to be impressed and happy, so I'll just be hopeful for now.

David,
I know that when you talk about you guys feeling depressed and even crying, as much as you guys are pros and as much as it must take a boatload for something like that to happen, putting yourselves out there every single day, reading some of the flat-out horrible things people say about you.... I know that you guys must let it out at some point. There's just so much we can take before we just overload.

But thank you for being a part of the community. You guys are all great writers, and from the sounds of it, amazingly jovial people. Keep it up.

one thing can be said for sure, Bioware devs spam around their forums a lot more than most others

I agree with OP, complaining gets you nowhere, and the Dragon Age universe is bigger than the Grey Wardens. DA2 will be great, and I'm looking forward to learning about Hawke, and the story as to how he made his rise to power possible. If that isn't enough, it's Bioware people, their games are amazing, and people should be thanking the talented devs for bringing them a sequel to one of the greatest and best selling RPG's of our time.
Looking forward to updates and any other DA2 info!Image IPB

I don't want to focus on the negative, but why?  Because of Bioware's past performance?  Somehow it seems that didn't seem to be enough for Bioware, and they're changing things a lot, things that people weren't complaining about, and adding things like the Awakening dialogue system, which I've already seen and dislike immensely.  As I said, I'll give the game a chance, and I'll follow the game's development, as I've followed the development of every Bioware game on their forums since they moved to their own, but why should I have confidence in their ability when they are fixing things that aren't broken?

And I prefer TZ to teen, I'm waaaaaaay too old to be called that anymore.  :crying:
