Much BS. Two fit blokes getting off with each other? Absolutely bloody marvellous, from this straight female's point of view. And most   every single one of my straight female friends feels the same way. We just don't collectively buy enough games for our opinion to count. <_<

And in my opinion, gay romances should be there for gay gamers, not just for the purpose of titillating straight gamers.

Ah yes perhaps DA2 should be able to determine if the player is gay and then accommodate accordingly?

So straight gamers shouldn't be allowed explore an in-game gay romance? Or just not be allowed to enjoy it? Perhaps we should all express our real-life sexual preference before playing the game, so that certain options are denied us.
And to clarify, I don't find ANY 'virtual' romance titillating. Just a diverting part of playing a game. :)

Edit - I was ninja'd repeatedly, there!

I think it doesn't matter because as long as we enjoy it.. I don't care if plently of straight women also enjoy it (I mean, I'm glad they enjoy it as well).

I agree with that...I have enjoyed the f/f romances BW has done in the past, and am glad that other lesbians/bisexual women/straight men also enjoy them.

Their s/s romances have always been respectful to those people who are homosexual or bisexual, IMO, and I never got the sense they were exploiting them solely to titillate straight gamers.

I doubt anyone plays DA:O with their hands in their pants. If they can play DA:O, they got internet access. If they've got internet access, they got all the pr0n they could ever want.

As you all do of course know, you filthy little buggers.

Then what is the spirit? I didn't mean to cause offence with what I said, but clearly I have.

I didn't imply, or certainly didn't intend to, that s/s romance should be included in order to appeal to the straight gamer, only that some straight gamers are capable of enjoying gay romances. If I find two men attractive, is it really that inappropriate to say that the two of them snogging is also, therefore, attractive?

Apologies if I have once again misconstrued the 'spirit' of what you said.

Gaider, if you DO do homosexual relationships again....DO NOT MAKE EVERYONE BI-SEXUAL....it's wasted time spent...and not everyone in the real world is bi...neither should everyone in DA (and I'd argue any game.)

give the homosexuals/Bi-Sexuals there thing sure...but Alistair is not, and never will be, gay...as an example.

Thanks, Riona45, although you still haven't clarified how my words pissed you off. I'm not baiting - I'm genuinely concerned. Pretty new on the forums, and really don't want to start alienating people. Image IPB

I agree, just as in old Larry games you had to answer a few questions at game start, we could start with questions in DA2 too, including the question "Are you gay?" and the answer would lock/unlock game content :wizard:

seems like gay romances is The most important thing in Dragon age 2 for
all of you here

Why would it seem like that? It's just happens to be the topic of the thread and is therefore relevant to talk about on the thread...
To my knowledge there have only been 3 threads mentioning it and that's virtually nothing compared to "Hawke's a stupid name" threads, the "I hate wheels!' threads, or even the "I am going to make up the most wild and absurd speculation possible in order to prove BioWare eats kittens!" threads.
That aside it is important to some of us for various reasons. For some it's related to the character-control issue, for some it's personal preference and they just want to make it know, for other's it is important for other reasons.
I won't get into my own reasons until more information comes out because I don't want to jump the gun or be all dramatic but suffice it to say I do think it is an important topic for consideration.

As for what I said (which wasn't a personal comment directed at you, although I did quote you), I just believe that the main reason for having gay romances should be (ideally) for the benefit of gay players.  It's true that once they're in the game, it doesn't matter who plays them or why.  It's just that we straight people are essentially already very "catered to" when it comes to romance in these games.  I hope what I made to say is a bit clearer now, and I'm sorry if I caused any offense.
