Wait...you...have a problem with bi characters being bi and straight characters being straight? It's not like being bi is "cheating", you know. There are more bisexual people than gay people. Not "everyone" is bisexual...only Zevran and Leliana are.
The thing is, there's unlikely to be more than four romance options. If two are exclusively gay, than that stretches the belief of probability, as well as having two romance options that only a tiny fraction of the community will take advantage of. If only one is, then the lesbian or gay community will cry in outrage for being neglected (or yaoi/yuri fans). If one is bi, one is gay, and two are straight than there is an inordinate amount of romance for either male or female--meaning there are three options for one gender, and only two for another. And I highly doubt that BioWare will have two characters that aren't exclusively straight for men or women.

i hope for the sake of honesty they include male male, and three and foursomes the way dao did- content should be ADDED not cut.
it doens't have to "show" anything, fade to black is fine, but the implicaiton that your character is a living breathing person with sexual needs and impusles is necessary to bring a live a character in proper role playing.

really?
for me it was him bieng raised as a templar and having pillow fights with the "other boys",
of the two, i would have thought allistiar to be the most likely candidate to be open to male male sex.
of the two females- i can see for story purposes how they limited morrigan- because morrigan with male pc would further her ultimate goals- morrigan with female would fit, but not as squarely i think- but IMO it should have been an option- but maybe a more difficult one.
leliana was fine as is.

In any case, I'm pretty sure Alistair was joking around on purpose since he doesn't live in constant fear of being mistaken for a gay person.

This is where I start to have problems. When characters are written or changed purely for ingame romances. Saying "we need x number of straight male, female, gay, lesbian, bi, etc" turns the whole thing into a formula and stifles creativity. It leads to less interesting characters IMO.
If a romantic relationship adds something interesting to the character, be it gay or straight, then great add it. However, the romances being seen as a requirement or a right, for any sexual preference, is a problem. As an example, Zevran being bisexual IMO seemed to fit the character and make him more interesting. Leliana, who is actually one of my favorite characters, IMO (and I'm probably wrong about this, but its the feeling I got) felt like a character that was actually originally created of as a lesbian, but was made bisexual to give straight guys a second option beyond Morrigan. Leliana's relationship with Marjolane, and therefore being attracted to women, adds a lot to the character and her background. Having a relationship with a male Warden doesn't really add anything to the character IMO. In fact, one of my favorite characters in ME2, Samara, is one of my favorites precisely because she turns Shepard down. It adds depth to her character and makes her far more interesting, which IMO is far more important than a cheesy sex scene.
I would much rather let the writers just be creative and come up with interesting characters. If those characters end up being straight, gay, bisexual, or even asexual then so be it. In the end, the game will be much better if the writers are simply given freedom.

Having in my schooldays made quite a number of attempts on the virtue of young men very much like Alistair, I am sorry to report that "sweet, goofy, and clueless about romance" does NOT equate to "hetero-flexible" in any way.
On the other hand, maybe it's just that my own technique was poor at that time....

Alistair seems like a guy's guy to me so no surprise he was straight. And I'm glad they didn't make that an iffy thing for his or Morrigan's character. Some people are just straight, and to have it otherwise wouldn't be realistic.Gegenlicht wrote...

On that note, being a virgin has nothing to do with anything. I can tell you for 100% that even as a virgin, I knew what I preferred.

There are some situations where paying fifty dollars let's you make demands based on sexuality; purchasing a video game isn't really one of them.
I can respect everyone's love of, and concern for this franchise. That said, and with all due respect to the BioWare team and Mr. Gaider, it's just a video game. The constant apoplectic tantrums and childish demands to meet certain expectations "or else", the over-analyzing of every rumor culminating in group hysterics... And now over simulated sex in a game? All directed at a company who has historically offered more freedom of choice in games, romantic or otherwise, than almost anything outside the GTA franchise.
Video games are not the place to look for validation or representation of lifestyle choices.
It's amazing, the sense of entitlement people can develop for something they didn't know existed five minutes beforehand.
Preach it sister!

I absolutely see where you're coming from, but the truth is, BioWare needs to justify the time spent on writing code, and script, and using money and time and effort with results that will please the fan base. As much as I'm sure David Gaider, and Sheryl Cree, and Mary Kirby, and all of them would love to have a no-holds barred allowance to make any character they please, they can't.

I realize that, and IMO its a problem. That's all I was trying to say.
As a straight male myself, I would happily sacrifice some/all straight male romance options if it meant a more interesting group of characters.
Edit: Also, just out of curiosity, why do you assume there can only be 4 options? Just because DA:O had 4 doesn't mean there will always only ever be 4 in the rest of the DA games. They managed to fit 6 in ME2. Then again maybe DA2 will have fewer options. This is what I mean by don't hamstring the writers into a formula.

It seemed you to had a problem with this. It seems to me you have a problem with Alistair being straight as an arrow, and there actually being bi characters that are not gay. But your English is just freaking terrible and you don't know how to put your point across.
Considering no one else pointed out my mistake--and I apologize, but you didn't phrase it coherently--I'd say I'm not the only one.

I know it's a glitch, but once in DA:O I was switching to control Alistair and he said, "my love?" My character was male. I've heard him say that to my female characters before, but that was the first time I heard him say it to a man.
XD That's okay, I've seen cases of Alistair having the break-up speech with men too--without any Equal Love mods. And what's even better is that the player was utterly startled by this and starts selecting "What you and I?" type options and Alistair is going "Come on. You know there's something there. Let's not kid. We can't have babies together because of the taint, so why try?" and such.
In all games, even my console version, Morrigan is utterly in love with my female when you switch to her.
