Why is it that some homosexual people always wants to force their sexual preference to be represented in games? What's next? They want all movies to come in two versions one where the hero is straight and one where he is gay? Why does the hero nowadays always HAVE to be at least bisexual? People like to have something they can relate to regarding the characters they are playing. 

I also have trouble thinking of a character having to be at least bi-sexual in any media format, be it games, movies, tv or literature.

Wanting some representation =/= wanting everything catered to you.

Now if they were demanding all s/s LIs and no hetero you'd have a point or even the same amount as LIs.


They're only asking for one option. Chill.

Because the straights have all the power and aren't likely to even think about it unless we ask for it. Seriously though. All we're asking for is an option. No one is asking for Gay!Dragon Age. Hell, I probably wouldn't even want to play that game. But as long as people are asking for cloaks and horses, and god-babies, I don't see why we shouldn't ask for romances that actually resonate with us.

I´m not gay, but I think every hero in a movie should be gay or bi. Straight is too common; almost everyone is straight, it´s totally boring. Movies and games should be special so the hero should be special, too, and not a guy like 90% of the world population.

Thing is some aren't asking for it. Some people are demanding it (at least by the tone of some of the previous posts). I'm all for "representation of minorities", but I find it to be an issue when some people demand this representation. The more someone wants to be represented or demand it the less I want to see it represented. Not even the straight people got any right to demand anything from BioWare.

I see what you're saying. Some people think being calm and rational is the best way to get what they want. Some people think being in-your-face and demanding is the best way to get what they want. I doubt anyone is going to change anyone's mind on this forum.

I get what you're saying, but some empathy might not be out of order. Consider the matter of privilege-- a straight person sees romances they like and can identify with in the media all the time. It's ubiquitous and perhaps even taken a little for granted. Having a romance in a video game might be an appreciated extra, but it goes without question that if there is a romance it'll be something targeted at them. A gay person is not so fortunate, and so maybe could be cut some slack for getting a bit upset at the response of "what's your problem?" when they ask if they could maybe be represented as well.

To demand it and be overzealous, or suggest that they have the right to be represented... well, you are perhaps right that this goes too far. All I'm suggesting is that it's easy to say it's not an issue when it's not even remotely an issue for you. I think in an ideal world we'd all like to have something in the game that every player could call their own.
