Who wants to bet male romance options will be heterosexual only?

I can´t imagine Wade having sex, neither with men nor women. He´s attracted only to armors.
He DOES look like a typical bear, though.....

I personally didn't find Zevran feminine. He just wasn't the stereotypical, gruff, manly-man... Which in some circles means you're effeminate.Tirigon wrote...
And how exactly is Zevran "girly"? I found
him quite manly actually. Strong, muscular, agile, cunning.....
I don't think it's been explicitly stated that they are gay... Just implied.Tirigon wrote...

Microsoft ordered them to remove it before game was released though... Still seeing Zevran in Dragon Age makes you think there will be Gay romance in Dragon Age 2.

I'm not saying you're lying, but do you have a source? I had no idea -- and it's a shame, because I was only really interested in Ashley as a romance option for FemShep. Still, at least it means I didn't cheat on her with Garrus in ME2 =)

I think why it was cut is pure speculation, but there was definitely Male Shep/Kaiden romance dialogue recorded for Mass Effect 1.Bugzehat wrote...

I don't think he is correct at all. The best source we have is from a developer who says that he thinks (but is not sure) that M/M Kaidan and F/F Ashley were cut because of time restraints.Bugzehat wrote...

Suggestion 8:
Just reimplement the former bisexual squad members by way of DLC.
Issues this would resolve:
No extra coding
Very easy
Someone for everyone. This includes, Ashley, Kaidan, Thane, Tali, and Jack.

Yes, I AM speculating. But it is a speculation based on what happened in Jade Empire, where we KNOW that Microsoft forced Bioware to remove the scene where a female PC kisses Silk Fox.

What sodding time constraints are you talking about when the entire dialogue is in the game?!
False. The entire dialog was NOT in the game. Kaidan, for example, did not have romantic lines that acknowledged that Shepard was male. Kaidan calls Shepard a woman.

That might be a bug in the mod. But listen to Shepard speak, and you realize they did record those lines.

If you mod the game, Male Shepard and Female Shepard say most of the gay lines (some are missing), but Ashley & Kaidan still treat Shepard like Shepard is of opposite sex (I assume this is because they simply did not record lines from Ashley & Kaidan's voice actors).Bugzehat wrote...
Yeah -- kind of sounds like lines that were recorded for Shepard have been cut together with lines for Kaidan and Ashley that were only intended for straight romance. Kind of implies that they recorded the lines for Shepard but it was cut before they recorded lines for Kaidan and Ashley. I could be wrong, though.

Either way...my original point was that Bioware is willing to put Gay Romances into games, even those with a PC voiced. If they weren't they wouldn't have bothered to have Hale and Meer record those lines.

It's supposed to be an
RPG, real life sexual orientation shouldn't matter... Lobbying for
homosexual romances because you're gay is beside the point. What really
matters is whether or not the character is gay.
If in real life I
like redheads with French accents, does it mean that all my characters
are going to share that trait? Certainly not. It's called roleplaying
for a reason. Playing characters with different sexual orientations and
different genders is part of the interest of roleplaying. Playing a gay
character because you're gay in real life is just unimaginative.
You
really do not see why some people may want to play as "themselves" in a
choice heavy game like Dragon Age?
Real life is the game you play as yourself.
For every other self there is an RPG.

What
do you think the sales would be like if your character could only be
gay? Yeah, probably pretty bad. Maybe a bastion of progressivism like
you would buy it, but a looooot of other straights would be like, "What,
I'm playing a gay guy? Uh, no thanks."
That would be
interesting but I understand that people would be turned off. I'm
straight by the way but I have gay friends, I don't think that in real life sexual
orientation really makes such a huge difference as far as individuals
are concerned.
I like Zevran a lot because he doesn't fit in the gay stereotype
that society conveys and his reaction to the male warden is interesting
especially when he makes it clear that he has no illusion regarding the
hypocrisy and the self righteousness that some people display.
That
being said if that's the main character we're talking about then we
should be free to make him or her straight, gay or bi. That goes without
saying.
As a side note I always thought that Alistair was in the closet. [kidding]

By your logic, straight players playing straight characters are unimaginative. If we want people to be imaginative, there definitely should be gay love interests.
Did your argument backfire or what?
Not really no but if you don't mind I'll elaborate to make sure I'm making my point and that you don't misinterpret what I'm trying to say here.
For a straight guy to play a gay character is way more imaginative and thought provoking because it means playing someone who is different. Just like playing a woman in an RPG is a challenge. If you pull it off it can be great but if you fall into the stereotype then you're just making a joke of that character (like a guy playing a promiscuous female character in a chainmail bikini or a gay character straight -pun intended- from the Birdcage).
I'm not saying I'm against same sex romances or resent them. Quite the contrary. I'm objecting to the lobbying which seems based on the ground of being gay in real life. I'm straight and I want more choice to create characters who have back stories and are different from me. In other words, fleshing out a character's sexuality shouldn't be something only gay players are entitled to because of their sexual orientation.
I think that to petition for same sex romances in a game is divisive if you make it a real life argument. I'm in favour of same sex romances for RPing reasons alone and these have nothing to do with real life or my personal sexual orientation.
