I don't like that the console game will be action, I want pause and play!

That's what i was afriad of there might be some console players who don't have pc but want that kind of game.

Sad fact is from what i read you for sure won't get pause type game it will be action.

and that sucks. I am happy we can still controll diffrent party members nadt here will be tactics but no pause and play? That sucks :crying:

Pause and Play was barely viable on consoles.

wait, what?

you can't pause like before?! Is this for sure?

goddamnit thats just terrible, i never fight without pausing, I pause more than the actual fight lenght truth be told, this is another step into the hated "action" genre I can barely stand

Same <_<

Now I begin to fear the changes for ME3 too, if they remove pause option from there I will get killed every second minute even on easy difficulty

also on this same thing: I already hate that games stopped being turn-based, now if they stop having pause option aswell I believe I just quit playing most of them :pinched:

They won't take it out. Taking out something that gamers are used to (on both platforms) would be stupid.

If you buy expensive, quality boots that will last you a decade, you end up spending less money in the long run than you would have if you'd bought cheaper boots that wear out faster. That's the Vimes "Boots" Theory of Economic Injustice.

Likewise, if you pay a few hundred dollars for a gaming PC now, you'll save ~$20 on every game you buy. Not to mention games on the PC have more longevity due to mod scenes, etc.

You mgiht have went shooty shooty the whole time but I used it to issue comands and use powers. There is no excuse to get rid of it in DA2.

I wasn't 'shooty shooty' all the time, I played an Adept on Insanity and did it. The sheer difference betwen ME and DA:O in terms of Pause and Play is ridiculous though. Dragon Age plays more like an RTS.

I mean get a new one. The games are cheaper, for one thing.

It would cost me more funny. I would need to rebuy DAO again, buy a new computer. More expansive, i will just suffer no pause and play, which sucks.

According to the scans:

"We're not getting into specific details, but the goal will be to make it so that even if you played the first game on PC and the second game on the console, we'd be able to react to your choices," reveals executive director Mark Darrah. "Now, we'll see what Microsoft and Sony have to say about that."

Not that I'm necessarily advocating the advice that you buy a new PC for DA2, but there's a good chance you may not need to buy DAO again.

But it was still there and I always used it during fights. If it's gone, then I wan't the reason why.

It's cheaper to make a gaming PC from parts, only reason I don't have a gaming PC is because I'm mostly using it for WoW (Addicted) and such while my console is right beside my PC to be used while doing both (and it's relatively more comfortable to sit down on a couch or something)

I'll admit that I picked too.  I wonder what "whimsical qualities" of the (old) art they were talking about that they feel didn't fit with the tone of the setting.

Imagine a Lord Of The Rings game on the xbox.
That's pretty much what it looks like. Looks worse than Dragons Age, seriously looks like turd. No better than those two screenshots shown before, it's like the game has no self-shadowing.

All this talk of removing the ability to pause... something they probably won't do. I never did use the pause anyway, because I never needed it... I am glad they are changing the game to tailor to us non-pausers

Poor you. Oh well, won't be that long until some other fool goes and makes a topic about them.

By the way, what happened to that awesome avatar of yours?

Obviously it won't have shadowing, the lighting and specular effects are the last to go in, usually.

I already accepted that they'd probably do some changes to the already perfect game, but I was terrified at the thought of not having the pause and play feature, and if they do then they'll need to make the opponents slightly weaker, so my dream of the game having a couple of bosses that will make your blood churn will be ruined.

:bandit:non-pausers are just people who don't play on nightmare.

We have not removed the ability to pause the game and issue orders from the console versions. If anything, we are working to improve that experience.

That said, we are also making great strides to make the non-paused version of the game better, but for those tough fights, or less-often used abilities, the radial menu is still there. We demonstrated it to Game Informer, in fact.

I don't know. He didn't really say that. It wouldn't be Dragon Age if there is no pause and play :(

Thanks for posting this. Combat has been one of my biggest concerns since the DA2 news started leaking out. I love the pause based tactical combat of BioWare RPGs.

To be quite frank there was NEVER a moment when that feature wasn't working. It was a standing order from me that no matter what we did to the combat, the tactical elements not be eliminated. I know people love it, and I do as well.
