I haven't checked it out myself, but I'm gonna have to.  This chicken suit is hot and stuffy inside.  And I don't think the last person who had it washed it out before hanging it back in Costume.  Eww!

Awesomeness. I thought there was a way to get new portaits, because I've seen people with ones that aren't in the options (someone has a BG portrait). I might try this out soon, though it'd be nice if they gave us a "proper" way to do it, or at least a nice enough portrait selection so that we don't need to.

Just to clarify... either of these methods does require the Dragon Age Charatcer Creator? That is a program separate from the game? But then this will only make DA style avatars.

I was hoping for something that could upload any portraits, including BG or IWD, etc.

It does see my portrait.

follow Dunnite's thread, it basically means you manually change the pic that is about to be uploaded to the Bioware forums to anything you want as long as it fits the original specs of your original dragon age portrait.

Wow awesome! The neverwinter nights 2 just recently got moved to the bioware topic forums its like the 1st or 2nd day of this new forum.

I'd like a new avatar as I'm sure many people would, but how many people want to get a new program for the sole purpose of making one avatar? I know I don't really want to. So, the inevitable question comes: Is there a person willing to make avatars for other people by request? If so, please speak up! Thanks!

Go in game DA

Create new character 

Do a manual save (not quicksave)

Go to Option in game (after saving) 
Click Profile tab

Click view Online Profile, it should upload within a day.

When it uploads, Delete portrait from the bioware social site.

Then go to (My documents/bioware/characters find the portrait 146x146 pixels (I think) and replace it with your custom portrait.

Go back in game load manual save

Do another manual save (can be the same save just have to save again)

click option click profile, click Online profile.

And wait for your new portrait to upload in the bioware forums.

If you don't own Dragon Age: PC don't panic, its still possible. use DNO's 1st post link instructions, 

said above is for DA: PC owners only.

yes NWN2 is obsidian, though NWN1 is bioware, and bioware and Obsidian agreed before that the forums for both should be kept together, we are just glad Bioware allowed NWN2 to be transferred here as well. Thanks Bioware.

You don't have to buy a new program, go to this topic for a link to download the DA Character Creator

Just to note: The DA Character Creator as well as The GIMP are both only the cost of your download and learning/play time with them.

Just got it. Couple of things I noticed. In your photo shop editor, make sure when you save as a .png file, you actually select that type (Portable Network Graphic) from a drop down menu, besides entering the .png file extension.

The avatar seems to need to be 146 x 146 pixels exactly, so make sure the aspect ratio is 1:1 when you are resizing the image.

Hope that helps. Took me a day to figure out.

Error Codes

1004 - No story xml file uploaded from the game to the on-line storage server.

Yeah, the game is not uploading any character from the game...it uploaded from the character creator, but it gives me that error code.

The crazy thing is it's uploading achievments in game, just not game portraits.  I have also made sure that the "upload characters" option IS checked.

Your first character wasn't available until an hour ago and right now seems to have been deleted. At least one persona view after the character has been uploaded is required before the character is sent to the slave servers (that's the delay, the upload is instantaneous). A second character has just appeared, that's the one your diagnostics page was showing you.

That error code is not important in your case.
