it's typically much easier to covert them back to the pc. [/quote]

What does he mean by back? Built for console them back-wards to pc build? Someone explain what he means please.

They'll build the console and PC version at the same time and then port what they have from the console to the PC instead of the PC to console because console ports are harder to tailor than PC ports.

So it's primarily being built with the console in mind? Then backtracked to the pc? Like Mass Effect?

They're building all the versions seperately and simultaneously, but it sounds like they're focusing on consoles first when it comes to developing new mechanics for the gameplay that will be common to all versions... which kind of sucks.

So not outright port, but console game being templated to the pc?
Not CRPG,  console game?

I imagine it'll be similar to ME2 in terms of porting (thought hopefully not in terms of "streamlining" RPG-mechanics). ME2's port was pretty good, but there were clearly still vestiges of consolification throughout it, such as the use of a single key for taking cover and sprinting. That would never have been the case if the game had been developed on the PC with the keyboard in mind.

You take cover in Dragon Age, or do you mean  Mass Effect? Game seems very bad so far. Bioware man said it would look hot. These screenshots DO  NOT look hot. They almost look like a last gen game. screenshots, EASILY mistaken for Lord Of The Rings, what he talking about? Console LEAD platform,  plays like Mass Effect along with Shepard no more  reading and a "cinematic" approach. Everything so far has sounded total  balls. Game rushed. "Bioware roots" my bum. "spiritual successor to Baldurs Gate" yea, totally. Game should be canceled or just  called something else altogether. Seems to be another Xcom in the making. A name that  means nothing, a game that means nothing.  Icewind dale cheaper. Probably alot better too.

Great, now the PC is the inferior version.

Yeah, this whole console first mentality with DA2 has me wondering if they'll even bother with a toolset this time around...

Guys. All he's saying is that they are working on optimizing the console versions.

Do we at least know how better (if at all) better the pc version
will look?  Those screenshots were bad, really bad. Even in the pure asthetic sense excluding graphics, ugly stuff.

I'm thinking though that any fundamental changes they're making design wise are being made primarily with the consoles in mind first, with those changes just being ported over to the PC. Even though they say its a simultaneous development across all 3 platforms, just look at all the little console minded things were left in the ME2 PC port.

Oh yea, said the same thing about Operation Flashpoint 2 and Fear 2, look how those turned out. Saying the same thing about Dues Ex 3,  which uses thrid person wall-cover, sheild regen and more "action". Pc gaming dead man, it's iover.

Yeah, given how crummy console to PC ports generally have been as of late, excuse me if I'm rather skeptical about the comments and tone of the GI article.

Those are from the Alpha build.

And I still thought it looked good. Graphics aren't everything.

Parallel design for PC and console often means the PC version is shafted and its potential isn't used.

Will the PC version be playable out of the box? Will I have to rely on third party programs to fix stuttering or mouse lag? Will it be capped at 30 FPS? Will it have a huge ass UI to fit big televisions instead of desktop monitors? Will you discourage the use of mods to sell item DLC's like in ME2? Will the game be tweakable?

Not to mention all the compromises to make the game simpler and gamepad-friendly. (Yes I know they said PC gameplay will be similar to DA:O, but you never know)

It's also a console game, ported over to the pc, with less skills streamlined for the console pad, no reading, and Commander Shepard. Oh, and it's cinematic with less player input.

I really love how you guys support BioWare. It's a worm fuzzy feeling.

Okay, seriously, we keep telling you it is not a port. Your naysaying is just becoming trollish at this point. Actually, you became a troll as soon as you include an image.

Sorry, you're going to have to play the same game as the rest of us mouthbreathers. We're a fun enough bunch, though. We shoot off our shotguns and drink National Light on the weekends, if you're interested.

It's being built primarily for the consoles, to make sure it works  fully on the consoles, before putting it on the pc. How is that not a port? The console is lead development, pc an afterthought. That's not co-developed, that's 1. Console 2. PC.

Where exactly are you getting this information from.
