I don't know if a topic about this has been made already but if it has I apologize.

Will they be keeping the old specializations and what can we expect for new ones? If any new ones. And will the extra specializations from Awakening be available early or until you reach level 20? I understand that we don't have much to work with at the moment about Dragon Age 2 specialization but suggestions for possible new ones would be interesting to hear about.

I think that even if we see the old specializations back, they'll be re-tooled. There's also a thread somewhere that's an idea about specializations, unlocking advanced specializations for your first one.

Yeah a specialization advancement tree would offer loads of potential for customization of your characters. More skills for each specialization would be nice to see too. 4 skills isn't many.

I would like to see some of them like shapeshifting needed a lot of improvement. It'd be interesting to see that re-done in a way that makes it more useful. And perhaps some new ones would be interesting. I do want to see Blood Mage and Arcane Warrior again. It'd be interesting if you could use the whole blood magic mind control concept in conversations to make people do what you want. Sort of like how they did the Jedi Mind Tricks in Star Wars the Knights of the Old Republic.

Yeah I never even bothered with Shapeshifting. And Ranger wasn't that good either. I really liked my Berserker/Templar warrior though. Champion didn't appeal to me much either. I think the specializations need to be better balanced in Dragon Age 2.

Game Informer article says it will have less skills with specializations. Think Mass Effect i.e. not very good

Rubbish, do you get off on saying that Dragon Age 2 will be bad?

It only had four skills in the first game for each one. Why would they have less? Like we didn't already have too few abilities for each one.

I want it to be good, just very angry after reading game informer, made it sound worse, not better.
Now I suspect all gaming media shown will be console version, bet this happens. It will be the Crysis 2 of RPG's.

That's what I don't understand. Why are you hoping it will be bad? So you can feel justified?

Well Mass Effect I am fine with having less RPG elements because the game is more of an action/shooter with RPG elements thrown in it. Honestly I like Mass Effect but Dragon Age is my classic RPG fix....I need that fix! What is the point of specializations if they are getting even less skills? 4 was too little to do much of an impact in origins anyways. Warriors always had to lead as a tank. Rogues always had to be damage dealers/treasure openers. And Mages always had to be crowd controllers or damage dealers or a healer.

Would be nice if the specializations had a considerable impact on gameplay, rather than just 'unlocking' another set of abilities. I liked the idea of Arcane Warrior, because it allowed you to play an entirely new class in itself, which no other specialization did.

More specialization specific items would be cool too.

Make a shapeshifter with a Were Wolf form...that would be cool. Honestly, it would be better than the swarm or the spider. The bereskran was ok...but yeah were-wolf. It would be interesting if the people in the world would react to your choice of specializations, like if you were a Templar mages would react negatively, and those Chantry freaks would love you. Have it effect the dialogue choices: mind control with blood mage, or shapeshift and eat someone.
