*scene:  Developer meeting with some suits from EA*

Suit 1:  So, I see Dragon age: Origins was successful.  How long would it take you to make another one like it?

Bioware Dev:  Hmm, well with all the dialogue and getting the bugs out and adding new features, about 4 years I think.

Suit 2:  Four years huh?  *looks thoughtful and shakes his head*  That's way too long.  We need to see some profit.  We just acquired you guys, you need to show you can get with the times *snapes his fingers in the Bioware teams faces a few times*  What people want is action.

Suit 1:  Right.  We can't wait that long, we need to put out more while this product is hot.  And I agree, the game needs more action, action is what sells to the kids these days.

Bioware Dev:  Yeah, but we've always put out quality games-

Suit 2:  That doesnt pay next years bills.  What can you throw together fast, that will look like something new?  Oh, and the console gamers are the future, so we need to make the game cater to them as much as possible, because that means more sales.  I mean, can you imagine if we can get all the Madden and Modern Warfare players to buy Dragon Age products?  Massive profits!

Bioware Dev 2:  Well...we could use an existing engine of one of our other games that is more accessable to the console crowd I guess....

Suit 1:  Good, let's get it done people.  Oh, and we want it done in two years.  Make it work.

Bioware Dev: ....

Not that is happened exactly this way, but I wouldnt be surprised if something like this did occur.
