David,

When i look at the timeline of Thedas i see you have a lot of interesting stuff about the ages before the Dragon Age. I really like the way you created some history.

Do you have any plans for a book like maybe the Silmarillion like Tolkien did with Middle Earth?

Also there can be done a lot of cool stuff with this. Can we expect other books or maybe games of the world of Thedas from other developers or maybe writer or hopefully yourself?

I know it's risky because some can wreck more than they do good but it would still be cool. Next to Middle Earth i think Thedas is another amazing fantasy world of wich i'd love to know more of.

I'd like a book centered around one of your companions from DAO. Perhaps one that doesn't appear in DA2 so that it can go into detail as to what happened to them after the end of the Blight and can give them some kind of resolution.

Agreed. A book based in Thedas would be one I'd pick up. I haven't read any books based on Bioware games but I hear they are decent.

Then you should really start with The Stolen Throne and The Calling....

I haven't read the Mass Effect books but that's because the game won't appear on PS3. When they do i think I'll start on those as well....

They are

The Darth Bane books (all 3 of them) are the best!
Followed by the 2 Mass Effect books
Followed by the 2 Dragon Age books

I never read any of the Baldur Gate stuff

The problem with this is that the Silmarillion and other works of Tolkien are fact.  They know the gods exist.  It's explained where orcs come from, and so on.

On the other hand, Thedas' history is all about ambiguity.  All information we receive is from an in-world perspective.  Which means that any sort of prequel book or series would either be equally flawed, and thus pointless, or it would also lay down solid, unmalleable facts that would basically ruin its rather realistic approach.

Case in point, the timeline of Thedas has a few inaccuracies, too.

But isn't that so for Thedas? They also know where the Maker is from and when they tried to reach him and how the Darkspawn are a result of that...

Drew Karpyshyn did write the Darth Bane novels, but those aren't based on BioWare games, Bane is after the KotOR and TOR timeline.

Aren't the Baldurs Gate books based on the game, so written after the game?

One Question to David Gaider!

Are we ever going to know what's REALLY going on in the world of Thedas and Beyond? I mean are you going to solve the mystery ever??

Just let us know!

Explain the darkspawn, that sounds neat, but explaining everthing mysterious in the world? I hope not.

Don't you give him any ideas!! Or you will be plagued by tainted and demonically possessed nugs that will slowly eat up your Hawke's blood dragon armout from the inside....

Yes, but just to clarify, the Baldur's Gate series takes place in the Forgotten Realms setting, which is owned by Wizards of the Coast.  It's not BioWare's IP.

While the Chantry have a belief on how the darkspawn came about, that's not given as a fact. It's just one of the theories though the Chantry don't present it as such. It's like creationism and the like.
