I'm not an Apologist for arguing with you, because that implies I have something to apologize for. I'm not an Apologist for liking things.

Ask and you shall receive.
Seriously, though, I understand where the OP is coming from - it gets frustrating hearing people claim the only reason you believe in a company that you feel has delivered for you in the past is because you are a mindless fanboy. Sometimes fanboys are fanboys do to experience, observation, and educated decision making.
Zombies on the other hand - those are totally mindless.

This, to me, is one of the most condescending terms that anyone on the forum can use. Why? Because it implies that I know your negative opinion is right, but I continue to rally anyway. It is a cop-out and it does nothing to foster a healthy atmosphere for discussion. I also am under the belief that 90% of the people that use it don't know what it means, which is another issue entirely.

I understand your complaint, but it cuts both ways. The constant labeling of people with seemingly legitimate concerns as 'haters' and 'whiners' is more prevalent. Some of the idiotic hit and run posts like:
Whiner thread is whiny
Or ad homs like:
You must be fun at parties, creating imaginary grudges people have with you up out of thin air
Are not particularly admirable attempts to "foster a healthy atmosphere for discussion".

I never thought calling someone an apologetic meant that one was wrong, but that they were the people who argue for their view.
But meh, whatever.
It's a loaded term suggesting that they have something to apologise for, defining the opposite position as the correct one. e.g. Pro-life and Pro-choice.

Just for clarification the world apologist means defender. Particularly a reasoned defense. Being called a skilled apologist is in fact a compliment. It has nothing to do with remorse, classically an apology was a reasoned defense of actions or doctrine. The term has been transformed in the modern era to mean expressing remorse for one's actions or doctrine. The word apology comes from the Greek word apologia meaning answer or defense. Honestly if someone called me an apologist I would see it as a compliment and not a pejorative.

There have been several times on these forums when I have made a comment about something and been instantly attacked, often by several people in a clique, who will not under any circumstances see it from another perspective. It's quite frustrating, but I'll be damned if I'll sit back and take it. Unlike some, however, I try to be a bit more diplomatic and kind.
I'm not trying to insult you, so back off. M'kay?

I think you need to look up the word "apologist." It doesn't mean or imply what you think it does.
Edit: I need to read an entire thread before posting. Someone else defined it!

Also, Bryy, I think advocating a healthy atmosphere for discussion is admirable. It would be a bit more convincing on your part without posts like this one, as IoCaster pointed out. On the other hand, I certainly get irritated at times too, as that thread also indicates.
So how about this - let's all agree to be more civil, and attribute disagreement to a genuine difference of opinion. The quality of discourse around here would rise immediately. That's not to say we can't disagree, of course - there's nothing I love more than arguing - but that we might all find this a more enjoyable place to be if we dialed back the attacks.
We're all here because we have a passion for BioWare games, after all, whether they're ten years old or brand-new. I try to keep that in mind when I'm posting something critical - and for those of you that get irritated by criticism, remember that it's usually coming from a place of love. Usually.

Mass Effect's always been a beating post on these boards, but the hatred has really flared up now that there are going to be more similarities in Dragon Age 2 to the old sci-fi shooter. I've seen people criticise Mass Effect 2 as being more censored, less chatty, having less squadmates, etc. etc. All of which is just blatantly untrue, and it has me wondering if you guys are just perpetuating bull**** in order to substantiate your fear about DA2 not being fantastic.
It's completely understandable that some of you aren't going to like the changes, but whenever I see a forumite going on some rant about how DA2 is designed for "idiots" in some attempt to pander for the masses I just see a huge "BAWWWWWWWWWW"
