I just wish I had the foresight of the people that know everything about the game from a couple screen shots and a few press releases. If I had that kind of insight I wouldn't be on a message board. I would be off winning large sums of money at the sports book in Vegas.
Agreed.

Agreed.
Already did, now I have lots of free time to spend on a message board while other folks waste their lives working.

It is amusing to me how some DAO fans seem to think they're oh so much classier than ME fans.

Just for clarification the world apologist means defender. Particularly a reasoned defense. Being called a skilled apologist is in fact a compliment. It has nothing to do with remorse, classically an apology was a reasoned defense of actions or doctrine. The term has been transformed in the modern era to mean expressing remorse for one's actions or doctrine. The word apology comes from the Greek word apologia meaning answer or defense. Honestly if someone called me an apologist I would see it as a compliment and not a pejorative.
Well, that's the thing. Bryy's right about how the word is actually being used by people these days, even though that's not the "correct" meaning of the word. The only people I see lately who are using the word "correctly" are educated Christians.
"Correctly" in quotes because, in the end, language belongs to people who use it. We pedants can play Canute for a little while, but if people really want to use "apologist" to refer to someone who defends a position that he knows is flawed, that's what the term's going to mean.

Sadly that is the case. At least in common everyday usage - which admittedly is really all that matters I suppose. Still.. ah never mind, was going go off on a tangent about being a good word smith to succinctly articulate a position without needing a lot of empty explanation, but I have a feeling you already get the point and this is hardly the place for it. Anyways, Cheers.

Lol! A perfect example of why the OP's post has validity. If that's how you make your opinions known face to face, I hope you are a very big guy, or you must be rather bruised.Wishpig wrote...

Huh, really? I feel like I still hear it used correctly often. To me the context is often ambiguous - it can be hard to tell whether someone means it pejoratively or not (though it tends to be clear on these boards). I'm not going to dispute your general point about language, though. If people redefine it through use, you're right. It may be that I've missed how widespread the "incorrect" usage has become.

I hear it used correctly often. Sometimes there is a pejorative tone attached, but I see a neutral or positive tone just as often or more often.

I added the last line to make sure it was clear I was kidding. I suppose I didn't make it clear.
