the question is ... would a separate tool set be necessary at all or would the present one not be good enough?

It would need a major update, even if it would probably be based on the DAO toolset. nd yeah, if the install process could troubleshoot itself that would surely help...

The toolset and modding is what makes the PC version of this game great. I would bet yes there will be a toolset if there isn't I won't buy it that is for sure. I would like to play a PC game not a console port on my PC.

Yeah, but the evidence are screaming that the PC version will be a port version so toolset might not be something we will see.
After all theres no toolset for ME

That's probably because it isn't their engine, they don't get to decide whether to release one or not. Look at how few mods there are for any other Unreal Engine 3 games.

First, it has been confirmed (and a lot of times) that all versions are being done at the same time.
Second, DA is not ME, and saying it a 1000 times will not change that fact.
Third, there will be a toolset because it's the same engine. (think NWN2)

Yeah, this seems to be the most logical conclusion at this point.

No it is being confirmed that the console version are getting made at the same time and then if you trust this:

versions simultaneously (pc, 360 and ps3) but we're definitely
ensuring the features we put in work well on consoles as well as pc.
The pc, because it's typically much easier to covert them back to
the pc.

That means it will be a port.
Console first. PC after. No Toolset.

After all They are converting things over to the PC and claiming its is made on all 3 platforms at the same time is PR speak.

Can you read?
What part of "In the case of Dragon Age II we're doing all versions simultaneously (pc, 360 and ps3)" didn't you understand?
I am a PC gamer, but obviously not as elitist as some people here. <_<

The quote you just quoted said "we're doing all versions simultaneously."
Also, "work well on consoles as well as  pc."
I.e., they don't want the console version to be gimped so they are making them at the same time and making sure features work on them too instead of making the PC game and then doing their best to force-fit them onto the consoles.  That doesn't mean the PC version would be gimped, and if the game is on the same engine, it is extremely difficult to imagine that they won't have the toolset available on PC.

Of course they will claim it is getting made on all 3 platforms at the same time and then read this

but we're definitely

ensuring the features we put in work well on consoles as well as pc.

The pc, because it's typically much easier to covert them back to

Ditto.  I'm a PC gamer, and want this game to be the best it can be on PC.  But I also want it to be a good game for the console gamers too.

And we know that they are trying to handle the combat differently to cater to the different platform strengths, so it looks like that is the direction they are taking.

Any way this is about the toolset.

Not how gimpy one of the version will be and what signs we have that there will actually be one.

So, when they say something you disagree with, it is "PR speak," but when they say something that you think is more true, it is definitely true?

I prefer to read the whole statement consistently, assuming that they are speaking in good faith, and that creates a different interpretation, especailly since we already know that the PC combat system is going to stay, i.e., it is not being ported form the console versions.

So you are blaming them for making the console version better suited for consoles, and keeping the PC version as it is (great)?
Elitist... <_<

I am going to ignore you becaus you keep going off topic.

One of the issues i foresee for a toolset (if it where to come out) is that we woudl have issue adding things to the dialogue wheel.

Instead of having the option to put unlimited (more or less) dialogue choices into the game we are now limited to 6 and if we where to do a mod of any kind to the OC we would have to break the one of the original responses to make room for more in some cases.

The issue is also when we add something to the game that we will be limited in how many words we can add to the wheel and it will limited us as mod makers.

Of course there is a way around this if you let the PC have traditional way of picking dialogue which incidental would also make more sense for PC.

Ok, name 5 situations where you had more than 6 available responses, and I'll agree with you.

So Waage, you said
"Yeah, but the evidence are screaming that the PC version will be a port version so toolset might not be something we will see.
After all theres no toolset for ME"

We explain that that argument does not make sense since the evidence is not saying it will be a port, and then you accuse us of going off topic for responding to your arguments?

Clearly you are not willing to debate this issue in good faith, so that's the end of this thread for me.

That in no way indicates its a port. Jesus, its literally exactly the same as Origins except we can't pick a race (Gee Bioware have never made any fantastic RPG's where you can't pick a race!) and there's a different dialogue system. Christ I'm so tired of this forum, they've said a million times that it will still be Dragon Age but people seem to enjoy moaning so much they ignore this and just twist what information we do have to fit their pessimistic little theories.

Your best bet is to wait for an official BioWare response. ^_^
