I bought couple of new Dragon Age DLCs some days ago. Of course, downloading of them was horrible pain. Downloads failed or did not start at all. When some of them were finally ready, they were unauthorized.

After three days of trying and trying, reading huge amount of forum hints and tweaking computer up and down, all DLCs were finally downloaded succesfully one by one.

I almost felt joy when I thought that finally I can continue my games. Well,... all DLCs are unauthorized now and I can not even load my games. Everything I try to authorize DLCs fails.

I have contacted many times to Bioware support and all  they say that go to www.bioware.com - Thank you for your feedback.

Do they really think that I have not read those support pages and forum guides. I have done EVERYTHING and your software does not work at all.

Traditionally this kind of behaviour is called robbery I think. I am extremely disappointed. I have bought good games to support development but it stops now. These DLC DRM systems will not steal my money anymore.

Well, if no one is forcing me to buy them, they could at least tell me before payment that this software which you are purchasing will not work because you are not authorized to use it. We just take your money - thank you.

For what it's worth, I think the OP has a legitimate beef with EA. You have my best wishes in your efforts to get this problem remedied.

true, if the product is not working it would be nice to get a refund at least.

My DLC for the xbox has worked without any hiccups, but I do regret spending the money on them in the first place. With Awakenings I gave them the benefit of the doubt because DA:O was so brilliant, but Darkspawn Chronicles and Leliana's Song were truely a waste of time and effort. In my opinion they should have released these 'stand-alone games' on one disc with about a dozen others to make you feel like you got something worthwhile. Or, better yet, they should have not have released them at all and left us in sweet anticipation for DA:2.

If Bioware/EA aren't returning your cash or not authorizing your downloads so you can play them, then yeah, I can see why you're annoyed. You've paid for them and they should supply you with a product that works, regardless of any tweaks you made the the PC to try and get them to work.

Fair is fair, isn't it?

Hope you tried these:

....0.1.2.
When I try to utilize Dragon Age: Origins content I've downloaded, I
receive an error message indicating that I'm unauthorized to do so.

  • Contrary to what Bioware is saying, EA says this :
    http://help.dragonag...=&p_faqid=23584
  • Make
sure you are logged in... Also make sure it is your account. Delog and
    relog just to be sure.
  • Make sure you registered the game
    itself to your account. Click
here and make sure your Dragon Age version is registered.
  • Try
3.2.2 and check if the service stopped working.
  • In DA:O
Launcher, click configure and then Repair and click the button "Clear
    Download Cache"
  • Try 3.3.1 to clear the data from the updater

It dont seem like a common issue or the boards would be full of people saying the same most seem to have nps getting the DLC's the content inside is ofcorse another issue :)

So it must be something on your pc or account, I just had some issue on my account because I got ME & registerd on EA site it overwrote my bioware/DAO reg it seemed & my game logon password didnt work anymore with the new or old password. I reset my EA password to the old DAO one & that fixed it but does show there reg system can be confusing or flaky so maybe your downloading on one account & buying on another.

Soz cant help more not seen the issue myself but GL sorting it.

I tried 0.1.2 and I have only one account.

DLCs were working earlier (3 of them) but when I bought new ones, all of them stopped to work.

Then I assume your service stopped working, check 3.2.2

Happened a few times for me too. Make sure to set the service to start automatically.

Good Luck, bet it something simple and small that is being over looked.

I have restarted service many times - nothing changes. I tried all those solutions in technical support forum.

Quite shame that Bioware just stays still and does not even bother anymore to answer me.  If you have problems with their products, only answer they give is to go to the www.bioware.com like that kind of trivial guidance would help anything.

I also had problems with this one running Windows Vista. Windows Vista does by default not allow the service in question to start unless you can confirm you are the administrator. I go around this by right-clicking my DA shortcut and clicking "Run as administrator" whenever I want to play the game. Then the game is allowed to start the service automatically and the downloads can be authorized.
I had a huge beef with the EA supportes on this one as well, keeping on telling me to reinstall my game and reinstall Windows etc. You would expect technical supporters to be aware of common (sort of) problems like this, but alas.

I hope this helps.

Edit: Didn't see your post above, making mine a little redundant, but still - make sure the service is running at the same time as the game.

I bought the Deluxe Edition on Steam and played the whole game through without realizing none of my DLC was authorized and actually active. This annoyed me.

When I started my 2nd playthrough, I spent about 2 hours trying to make that darn "Unauthorized" go away. Login and logoffs did not work, nor did checking or unchecking the box or any such simple options. Other options such as making sure the DAUpdater was running properly through Run.exe did not bear result.

What finally did work for me personally was deleting my profile.dap file and then relogging back in. This seems to be but one of many small but common ways that the DLC is not being applied to your game.

Other sites/threads I found on my travels were:
http://social.biowar...26lf%3D8#542935
http://sharethefiles...154958&start=30

I hope this helps. I'll confess I got really annoyed as time crept by, but now I have the DLC functional, and life is good.

INCREDIBLE, thank you MarshalMeLee! Deleting profile.dap was finally the right solution.

I must wonder why Bioware implements this kind of systems where you have study countless hours painfully detailed tecnological details to get some minor DLCs to work.

I am software professional and it took me 4-5 days to download and activate small DLC. And those support persons are totally worthless to contact...

Dammit MarshalMeLee, I was about to suggest the same thing too! Really glad you could help the OP out, back during my first playthrough I could not for the life of me get stupid Warden's Keep authorized. All I could do was drool at other people's images of Starfang and the Warden Commander armor (and listen to them boast about load-spamming Sophia to get her uber-rare Warden Tower Shield).

Then I dug all the way to the bottom of that amazing FAQ Dynamomark quoted, deleted my profile.dap, and bang! Levi Dryden actually TOOK me to Warden's Keep instead of just teasing me all the time.

And of course, the first thing I did to celebrate was load-spam Sophia until I got that damn shield. Best pointless use of 3 hours of my life ever!

Glad you got sorted out Urpo. My sympathies on the tech support dumbassedness, I've been there.

Hahhhaahhaaa!

I was celebrating too early. DLCs are now OK, but when I try to download save games, the game says that they require Dragon Age: Awakening. Of course I have it installed and I have even awakening DVD in the DVD drive.

Let me guess that when I reinstall everything, it takes again days to download DLCs and then they are unauthorized :-) Very cunning and evil design Bioware.

The only problem I have had recently downloading the ad-ons is that the speed has been abysmal, although this is only seems to have been a problem since the last PS3 software update, so Bioware are not at fault.
