Leave the spiders as they are. We don't want to disappoint TV Tropes now, would we? Posted Image

I always hated when I would be running around the deep roads thinking I had killed every thing in that thaig and then a huge spider would drop down and about give me a hard attack with that god awful noise they make. Same with overlord, I dont know how many times I scared myself going around a corner and that damn face popping up and making that noise.

Seems like I'm not the only one who dislikes them. I'm not ashamed to admit I have arachnophobia LOL.

I didn't think that the spiders were that bad, but I must say that Overwhelm (damage aside) grossed me out a LOT.

I hear ya. Ever played the mage origin? One of the optional quests had a spider-filled dungeon that was like 10 minutes into the game. My newbie mage turns the corner and this MASSIVE HAIR THING drops from the ceiling behind (yes, BEHIND) him with that awful noise. I needed to press pause, go change my pants, and play the game on mute for a while :P

I hope not, I totally love to play as a
Ranger spider pet.

Man, you have balls of steel. I gave Leliana one, kept freaking out whenever it appeared at the edge of the screen, and switched her back to the nice-looking wolfie :P

LOL I'm positive there were no spiders
in both Mass Effects OP.

But yeah I agree, almost EVERY RPG I've
stumbled across has giant spiders. Which I hate. I really, really, hate
spiders.

Off-topic: you have SUCH a handsome warden! :)

You can say that again. Try being pressed up against a corner so the camera zooms in REAL close - and this in an Origin story, so I had no other companions to switch to. Reload time!

Generally, I found the giant spiders of DAO creepifying. The last time I tested a plot in DA2, I wound up in battle against dozens upon dozens of identical, naked bald men named "Poison Spider." I think that was worse. Much worse.

I would like to see the return of the greatsword, Spider's Bane. Who cares if it was from another setting? That sword saved my skin against many a swordspider and now I want to use something similiar on all these DA critters.

I wonder what kind of noise they would make as they dropped randomly from the ceiling lol.

How about a naked bald man instead? Posted Image

When they use overwhelm just shield bash or freeze them with a different character. Hate spiders too, though.

Oh man. Please tell me that didn't make it into the final. I'll need to order adult diapers for March.

How about we compromise?  Instead of giant spiders, how about they use regular size spiders that surge out of the shadows like a crawling carpet and swarm over everyone in sight.  Would that work for you?  If you're not immediately sold, I'm sure I can find a scene or two from Arachnaphobia or Eight Legged Freaks on YouTube to illustrate.

Other insect enemies such as Ants or preying mantis would be cool to see. Swarms of giant ants would be ideal for the Deep Roads anyways, the little creatures love tunnels. Ants could also climb walls and ceilings. Just imagine seeing a swarm of giant ants covering the floor, walls, and ceiling of the tunnel ahead of you. Then Preying mantis have huge scythe-like arms which would make for a formidable enemy. Centipedes would be an interesting enemy too. Beatles have really tough shells and huge pincers so they too would make tough enemies.

It's so annoying, that when I found a woodlouse spider in my shower, I was worrided I would be just one Overwealm away from a game-over screen!

If I found a spider in my shower I would probably ****** myself.

Spiders are bad enough when I have clothes on but when I'm in the nude,my manhood is unprotected? get outta my house.

Actually, the arachnophobia toggle someone up here posted is not a bad idea. I absolutely detest spiders. I can just about manage myself, but I can very well imagine people with a worse form of arachnophobia being unable to continue playing when they appear. So how about a toggle, maybe one that would change the spiders into bald men, naked or otherwise? :)

I really would prefer to see my character get mauled to the floor by a giant spider than a bald naked man...I say no toggle. Spider nightmares are one thing, naked bald man rape is another.

Suprisingly, woodlouse spiders only eat woodlice AKA pillbugs, so no danger just an unpleasent surprise.   I do admit my encounter with the spider this morning inspired my rant on DA spiders.

I wonder if the same went with the initial darkspawn horde at Ostagar... That's even creepier...
