If folks are gearing to try Neeshka's romance, I'd beg you to wait a littl' bit longer till I can get the full version in. I am hoping to be done ASAP, which in my turtle pace means a few months, but with the purchase of the laptop, maybe I shall sky-rocket. It is turning out pretty good, if I say so myself. Better than I expected. :)

I'm patient. I'm still going to try the other mod. I just got the game started again with a new character so I can really take the chance and see this other mod. I hope it works nicely. i'm a little scared those, but will get to see what the community did with the neeshka lovin. Posted Image

Well I'm trying the mod and so far. I got a couple glitches with it completely messing up my environment design. I think I installed it wrong. ECK!

Is there a Qara romance mod? <3
I saw the one for Neeshka, but I can't find a Qara mod. :crying:

There isn't a Qara romance mod as far as I know (thank god). Mel has been trying to restore what was intended by Obsidion. For the OC there were to have been four romnacbles, Neeshka, Elanee, Bishop and Casavir.

And if you want to romace Qara make sure you have very high fire resist.....

Nope, not planned, though if you are a fire genasi, and romancing Neeshka, in a few places I put in hints of Qara being not uninterested. That's all I have left from one of my fav ideas of Qara's romance for fire genasi - I am one of three people in the world who dig Qara's character, actually.  It would have been way cool, but I just really-really want to finish Neeshka and try to work on my own plots and chars with the toolset. Okay, even less people will play that than Qara's romance, but I am more invested.

Nah, she wouldn't burn my handsome Aasimar on purpose. ^_^
I can only hope for a mod in the future. :innocent:

p.s. "What romances did you wish you had in NWN2?"

Shandra.

I guess they thought that might be cutting a little too close to the bone.

Shandra should've been the default romance, instead of Elanee (a character that makes even Nalia from BG endearing).

Considering how much some Obsidian writers hate writing romances, and prefer them to end with a tragedy, it's surprising they didn't.

I think it's time I post this quote from Chris Avellone.

I wished I believed in romance more than Bioware. I just can't write it unless one of the pair gets impaled on a pike, set on fire, or betrays the other and then impales them on a pike or sets them on fire. Generally, I prefer unrequited, melancholy, quiet suffering whenever possible, which really doesn't go over well with a lot of the role-players out there.

That pretty much explains everything don't it?

So, that leaves out Qara why?

Whoa was that from the main writer of NWN2? I mean i like a good story either way, so i can understand both from that standpoint and the rpger's pov.

It sounds like this writer is actually a shakespearian. Shakespeare loved nothing more than to write tragedies. Especially when love was involved. Posted Image

I don't see how that POV could prevent someone from writing a good romance. Not all romances gotta be about happy young love crowned with a marriage on the main square of Waterdeep and shiny happily ever after. I wrote a couple of romances where the MainChar was lied to and betrayed; was toyed with and betrayed in the epilogue; and one where the melancholy lover who was tortured and killed in the epilogue because he chose to assert his bravery; and a romance where the lover sacrificed herself to save the MainChar... and even one where the lover pounded the MainChar with her sword and cursed him every step of the way. Equally, I worte some romantic sequences where MainChar could betray and torture the lover. Different is fun. Different is good!

P.S: The said tragic romances are not Neeshka's before everyone gets worried!

Why so much Neeshka love? OK, Elanee wasn't perfect but at least she didn't have a tail!

I think it's the fruit you can't have The Fred Posted Image

Personally I think they both have thier up sides but I'm not convinced that either would make good girlfriends/wifes.

The romance I wish I had is with the npc that is not there who has ears of the right size and no tail, who would not burn the house down if we had a row, was not from another plane and who did not die on me.

The romance I wish was in the OC would be with a human lady of good looks and stable personality Posted Image which is why MotB looked so promising until the game gave me a bad dose of spirits.

In the OC my character a dashing young swashbuckler Drow half elf choose a love for neeshka, but knowing his fate would be un heard of. I choose to let Elanee go when we went to rescue the druids. Either way, the final battle Elanee was truly considered my characters love in the final story. She would time to time appear showing tears of the lover she once new. That was one of the most emotional moments in NWN2 for me. I thought it was beautifully well written and it showed there was LI just not in the way people think of the romance scenes.  Neeshka was my girl friend, but elanee was my real love. Sorry, I wanted my baby to live.

Qara and Sand! Neeshka was annoying as hell and Elanee is a storm of preacy tedium. Both are better than Casavir.

I felt that Qara was a missed opportunity as well.

I found her character to be one of the more interesting companions.

I found her haughtiness appealing. Qara was naturally gifted with extraordinary magical power and a sharp wit.  She is confident and clear notion of her own superiority to others. These notions are reinforced by those wishing to suppress her.

Qara would have made a good romantic interest that a player character who agrees that might make right.

Wow, I am completely taken by surprise by so many folks looking for Qara's romance. Before, all I heard at the name Qara was outpourings of pure hatred for the character. The girl beat every other character in the 'least liked' category hands down in the character ratings poll ran about a year so ago. I am wondering if people's opinions change as they get more aquianted with the game, and they have more time to think about the chars. Because back a year ago, Neeshka would have been still be in the lead in a thread like that, but closely tied with Shandra... If Qara was mentioned at all it would have been in the "NO WAY!" footnote. Curioser and curioser.

I think even a year ago there were those who wanted a Qara romance (strange people if you ask me) but they got drowned out by the vast majority that hate her. We've also had an enforced move and I think a lot of regular posters aren't here.

There's also another reason she was never a romance option, her age. Qara is about 16, while that isn't so much of a problem in the FR setting, it gets very tricky in the real world where you have to deal with games rating boards and what not. Then of course there's her personality, she's only going to appeal to a niche group of people.

Where do you get her age?  Is there a biography about her somewhere?

Now, I know she's a student - UNIVERSITY student perhaps.

She also waits tables in a tavern - that puts her over 21 where I live.

I don’t particularly care for how you have characterize me rather then stating why the character Qara is unappealing to you.

Part of the appeal (for me) to having a Qara romance is having both a good & evil option for romance. When playing Cops & Robbers as a kid I had fun with the diversity provided by playing the robbers some of the time.

Qara is stuck-up and snobbish, but I found that conceit (and in some ways justifiable) more interesting then some of the more tepid characters.

*If she is only 16 that would definitely take her off the table for me, but I did not get that impression.

For Qara's age I guess it's mostly an imppresion I've gotten from how she acts. ::shrug:: Though I'm most likely off.
