Your forgetting that this is D&D, forget ordinary contraceptives, we could easily have magical contraceptives. Ranging from spells to potions. Imagine that conversation with Sand or Qara if you have to ask them to cast the spell on you? or the Gith priestess? "hey would you mind using the spell in this wand on me, no you don't need to know what the spell is" ^_^

Since my game is in Italian and the romance pack in English, I can clearly see what is "original" and what is modded, but you're right, I haven't finished the game yet, plus I haven't read/listened to all the hidden dialogues, so for now I have a partial idea. I cannot wait to see how the story develops! ^^

The problems with this kind of game is that each one of us build in his/her own mind a full representation of the characters, just starting from the few elements we got from the game. But if the OC give to us, let's say, 20%, then the other 80 that we build around is, of course, different for everyone. In this sense, the author of the romance pack has written her own Bishop. Her own Casavir, her own Neeshka, etc. Unfortunately, if we want "our" version of the character, we have to write our own romance pack. The con is that in this way, we don't have any surprise :-( and in my opinion, the surprise is an important factor. I WANT to be surprised! By a dialogue, by the story, by an action, by whatever. But the only way for being surprised is accepting a mod by others!

The other parts have been developed in my mind :-D

About contraceptives... well, sincerely, my PC is not the kind for babies... o_O When near Highcliff, after rescuing the children, Elanee asked my PC about her future plan of having children. "No, thanks. The 3 that I bring around are enough!" (free translation from the Italian dialogue) :-D

That sentence summarizes the situation! :-P

@ Sarethus: lol. I've thought about that before, but what I guess I'm trying to express is, hmm... ok, example. I played the pencil and paper D&D a few times with some friends. At one point in the game, my character became pregnant, simply because the DM took advantage that I tried some ale and passed out in a dwarven tavern...>.>;

It ended up being a half-dragon half-elf baby o.0;;

anyway, weird sheit happens in D&D. (plus, I wouldn't be surprised if Qara flubbed up the potion...)

Also, Touche, Vaalyah. I had not thought about the difference in perception to that extent. You are right, everyones perception of each of the characters is going to be different because of the vague context presented in the game.

You win. I retract that I did not agree with the author's interpretation of Bishop, instead I will say that it did not agree with MY interpretation of the character :)

Well, a half-dragon child can be extremely interesting for the development of a plot! :-D

Oh, don't worry, this is not a battle. I find particularly interesting to know how the others see the characters because each one of us has maybe caught a different aspect of their personality. So I am extremely curious!

By the way, since, from what I read, it seems to me you had chosen Bishop as love interest, what about coming here http://social.biowar...1/index/4507020 for speculating with me and others about his behaviour? I am really curious about your opinion! :-)

I was disappointed that Neeshka and Shandra turned out to be not full-fledged romantic interests, after so much of the early game seemed to hint at a three-way catfight between both of them and Elanee. XD (Not that it would have mattered in the end. I would have chosen Elanee regardless. <3)

@ Zaxares: Well, I suppose it is all due to the same old story of "we must commercialize the game, we were in a hurry". I frankly would have waited 2 or 3 months more to see all the romances available, than having the game before but with missing parts! <_<
Plus... I would have liked so far to see the completion of romances with a game patch...

Funny you should say that, the fanfic that I am *trying* to write is that of a half-blue dragon elf character in NWN2. Worked in an amnesia plot in mainly because the OC story breaks down if you use a long lived species like an elf as a main character.

I call it the Obsidian Ending curse. Image IPB Their games always start off strong, have intricate and detailed characters, but somehow, the final half or third of the game collapses and finishes in a very messy, unsatisfying ending. It happened in KotOR 2, it happened in the NWN2 OC, and it happened again in MotB.

Admittedly they did do a fairly decent ending for Storm of Zehir, but that wasn't too hard considering your party mostly consisted of your own created PCs and the odd NPC companion barely say anything to you.

Many companies around have taken the habits to ask consumers about their wishes, to best target the next product. Has Obsidian done something like this?

@ Sarethus: lol, coincidence. Interesting that your writing a fan fic, but can you elaberate on why a long lived character would break down the OC? I'm not sure why that would be...

@ Vaalyah: yeah, but they seem to listen to the wrong people...Image IPB

I disagree with Storm of Zehir...but I had a beef with it anyway >.>
I imported my OC and MotB character thinking it was another addition to the same character's story, but NOOOOO. At first I just wondered why it seemed so easy...Until I returned to Neverwinter and they were telling me how the Knight Captain was still missing and I was like "UHM? WTF? I'm right HERE."

I quit the game for a month I was so pissedImage IPBImage IPBImage IPB

Obsidian is making a game right now. I prey they don't mess up. They are working with a very heavy budget and with the original creators for it so I have a feeling they will actually succeed. However, when it came to the ending of NWN2. I wouldn't say I was fully disappointed. I was just made that Elaine was considered the romance more than neeshka, but that was my beef. Either way, Neeshka was still loyal to me in the end. I hope you enjoy doing your fanfic.

Fallout: New Vegas, but I don't know about romance what I saw was street women if you get my drift, but if they didn't have romance options in NWN2. I don't think this one willl be any different.

Also one last part is Atari is making a new Neverwinter game. I just don't know if obsidian will be helping make it. Image IPB

They were saying it was going to be like a MMO, but it not. I don't understand fully what they mean. I'm assuming its going to be more of a friend invite type of deal like NWN2 mod packs.  IF it was like that I would be cool if you could romance the NPCs with your friends hehe. Image IPB

ehh...I played WoW for a while, and what ruined it for me was other people...when they found out I was a chik, there was some pretty nasty things said :( and there's a lot of politics involved (not like RL politics, in game politics) even RP servers weren't really RP... though all the addons and fun stuff you could do like FLYING ON A DRAGON WOO made it fun...damn it, I'm starting to miss it, where's my patch??? *Scratches arm redundently*

Ehi, Nightwoe, don't touch that! You have to focus on NWN2, we have to mod the OC! Focus on this!!!

Obsidian are currently developing two games that have been announced. Fallout: New Vegas (well, it's probably in the bag and most devs have probably moved on to another unannounced project) and Dungeon Siege 3.

I doubt New Vegas will have "romances" per say. We don't know much about Dungeon Siege 3, but the key folks from Mask of the Betrayer are working on it. I kinda doubt it will have romances but I guess we'll see.

I don't like romances in games generally speaking but I really enjoyed the romantic interactions in Alpha Protocol. But it's just different tonality-wise than the sorta, fluffy, "oh I have never known love before but you've shown me the light" proclamations that we typically see. But to each his own. :)

NWN 2 romances in Obsidian where their just I think because of time and budget they left them up to the mod community in the end which I rest, because it gives the modders the power to make those romances happen. Go Vaalyah. hehe which I like, because I can enjoy my neeshka loving and not be shamed of it.
