instead of good or evil , introduce mutations as you tap more into the fade and more you interact with demons more like one you would become . A corruption system similar to chaos rising would be cool , using certain powerful abilities will increase you corruption and making you more powerful , side effects would include becoming more twisted, less human . Balance you growing dark power you would only be have one companion in a party and overall decreased popularity from morally just people . Yes game has still concept of right or wrong , its just that there wasn't morality meter attached to it .
Although freedom of how those mutations will look on you should be left to the player, make them work like level in which you can spend corruption points on number of different upgrades . Bioware was merged with mystic , who has done some attempts with mutations for marauders , you could grow talons , crab claws and blades , also occasionally you would spur blue tentacles from your body . I dont see why as a corrupt mage you cant have talons on your hands that you can use in a battle . Although they failed to make marauders look cool , the idea is still holds some seriously cute potential .
Actually thats a great idea and it would be optional in a lot of ways. It would be interesting to see a mage who gets more corrupted by using blood magic start to shift into an abomination! I would definitely like this. To see my hawke get corrupted by a demon from the fade, but gain more power in certain points.
They could use the leveling point per level to do this. Say you gain a level, well bioware could impliment a Corrupt and enlightened class. This way its totally optional. This would solve the problem. You could level up the meter to look a certain way.
Ok, Say I put 4 skill points into my Corruption skill. It would effect the way my character looks then I could get my scary looking hawke or say In the enlightenment. I could get my hawke's teeth whiter!
