OK, everyone lets get the stuff back on topic. Please!

Back to topic. On the page three. I gave a good example of how the problem could be solve. I'm wondering what people think of the idea. I could work if done right/.

I dislike moral systems.

Your actions should affect the story, yes. But that should be it. Shouldn't affect your looks or abilities.

Made sense in Kotor, some sense in ME2, and made a nice pararel to Saren (and Terminator), but here? Can think a few ways of making it coherent to the lore, but also anyone with half a brain would see the character for what s/he is.

Anyway, no its a simple mechanic which would give us the option if we wanted to see our characters get the look of good and evil. It could work see my example above if done right. I'm not a video game designer, but would love to make one someday. This is genuine idea which could work and it doesn't take any control away from the player. The example adds depth to the game play while keeping it optional.

The main problem I and many others are seeing with this is that for one, the ideas of what evil and good characters, assuming such things exist at all, differ widely. Some people will argue that evil will actually look supernaturally slick and sexy while good looks more wholesome and homey. Star Wars established that in its canon, those who fall to the dark side look kind of... discoloured with the revelation of Vader and the Emperor in Return of the Jedi, so it was fine to make the light side/dark side visual differentiation in KOTOR, but DA:O is an entirely different background with entirely different rules.

Also note that while there do exist demons, there is no direct heavenly counterpart. The Maker has forsaken us for the time being. We are on our own. While there are benevolent Fade Spirits, the host of them as a whole probably needs to be considered neutral, being neither demonic nor of the Maker. In other words, DA:O lacks 'angels' or other supernatural good guys except for the spirit guardian of the Urn of Sacred Ashes. So you might have a very multi-faceted core for demonic stuff, and a neutral one, but none running counter to demonic.

If at all, I think your idea would be best implemented by certain choices in the game unlocking appearance options you could then choose to enable to disable between chapters. That way, no-one's moral codes need to be imprinted on a game that dwells on moral ambiguity.

But unlocking mottled skin and facial scars and beady eyes and whatnot just doesn't strike me as terribly desirable as a whole. DA:O makes a good effort of keeping your character human in spite of executing superhuman feats, and it's good that way. Being human makes the Warden's successes that more inspiring. If he was somehow channelling Andraste herself it'd seem far more trite, expected even, hardly spectacular at any rate. There's no need to add a supernatural element above and beyond the scope of DA:O to the player character, unless they do allow us to play as the Godchild one day.

You wouldn't happen to be a midget, would you? Because the point just went WAY over your head.

The only midget hear is you from what i see.

Of course, if you were both midgets that'd totally explain that. Especially if there was no mirror nearby.

Mind you, I don't have any stake in your quarrel, I just needed to pass on the observation.

If you did not have a stake you would not have commented, so you are lying to your self when you say that.

Lets get back to topic, i would not like this is DA2, if something like this was implemented it would affect my decision in buying the game.

Since I hated that my character became all scarred in ME by doing renegade actions (I bought the med center fix as soon as possible), I'm assuming that I would also hate if my character became "uglier" by doing evil actions in DA2.

Morality meters is an awful concept, let's keep them out of Dragon Age.

I dislike the idea. That's a thing I don't like about Fable. I can't have a badass looking character if I'm good.

Also, are you guys at Bioware starting to kill kittens if we mention those things in one thread? Did I miss something?

I don't like having good or evil auras.

I want to be like real life where most of the time you can't tell the difference between "good" and "evil" by appearance.

this is a fable idea, and i think there has been a whole topic already in which bioware had to reassure people it was not turning fable

never really workes in games, and considering how unique the approval system is compared to morality, could not really work

Yes, yes we know the game is supposed to not include the feature, but still. It would be cool to still have an evil look of the character evolving if they do go down a scary path. I mean make my character look more ugly or make the character's teeth look cleaner if they have a morale stand, but it would still be fun.
Why? not it would be fun wouldn't it?
Say hawke gets darkspawn blood in him and the more evil decisions he makes the more the taint takes over. Or say the more good nature morale choices the character makes the whiter the teeth look. Image IPB

That would be godawful! Horrible kidstuff. Do evil persons look evil? Of course they don't. Lets abstain from trivializing the game more than it already is, thankyou.
