Yes, but they'd be perfect fools to drop Morrigan

A recent thread complaining that DA2 was not going to directly continue the Grey Warden's story from Origins (and possibly not pick up the god-baby plot thread), was met with the reply, endorsed by a dev response, that the DA series had always planned to cover a broad span of time, and that the writers were under no obligation to pursue any particular character's story.

Well yes, of course. But.

They'd just be fools not to make use of the most recognizable and appealing character created for the first game, or to continue the most buzzed-about plot hook -- a character and plot that are already perfectly set up for a sequel.

Throw away Morrigan and her dark ritual, and you're throwing away money in the bank. Your call, of course, but why do it?

I reckon DA3 will focus on the aftermath of the Dark Ritual. The Old God baby is just too great a plot device not to use.

I know right? I want to know what happened with Morrigan god child, the only reason why I will probs buy DA2 is because Flemeth is in it.

Considering that MY warden didn't DO the DR... I don't care.

Because many Wardens did not perform the Dark Ritual.

And who says they have abandoned it?

And since when is Morrigan the most appealing character?

Same thing happened in the transition from ME 1 to ME 2. I don't know the reasoning, but the reason has to be that it makes them more money, somehow, to toss established characters aside and start anew. Maybe Morrigan wasn't super-hero-cool enough?

or maybe Morrigan is like Liara and unkillable. Yes, this would explain a lot of her origins. Actually I wonder could you killer her in the game. IHmm. I'm going to try now!Image IPB

I agree, she the Gollum of Dragon Age, with cleavage and lots of make-up.
Probably too much make-up, she's caked in it.

I have harped on and on about how awesome she and the DR is, and how massive a plot hook it could be for a future game (even if you didnt do the DR) so Im just going to fall into a massive fan boy rant: "MORRRRRRRRRRRIIIGANNN!! "

*cough*

I personally think it was a decision by the dev team wanting to work with new entities. I mean the established characters have alrady been explored so maybe they were seen as a "boring" alternative to flexing their creative muscle and make all new chars. I personally would rather have gotten my old team back but hey.... Considering the entire ME2 game consisted of building the team I think they may have concluded that it wouldnt make much of a game if they didnt include new chars.

Not really. One dev has said "We're not done with Morrigan" and Flemeth apparently reappears in terms that imply a link with Morrigan (and may support an idea I had about the first game -- that Morrigan simply WAS Flemeth the entire time). But whether Morrigan herself as we've know her--and Claudia Black--will be in DA2 isn't clear at all.

Yea, I am loooking at the GI article now. The exact quote is: "We are certainly not done with Morrigan's story." end quote. So that would seem to suggest she has a fairly big role in DA2.

Perhaps people don't understand that the more you bother them, and insult them for the question of Morrigan, the more they will lose the desire to give you any single information about this..

Not to mention all the players who don't care anything of her who are forced to deal with complains about Morrigan and DR everywhere, like if Dragon Age was only Morrigan and anything else...

Sten was more interesting anyway. In RPG all characters talk to you like they are airport attendants giving you info, super sociable. Sten exact opposite for the most part like crying Indian.
