Something I believe should be easy to fix.

This has been a problem (in my opinion) in both ME, ME2, and probably in DA:O too (Can't quite remember). Since DA2 is going to feature a fully voiced protagonist now along with a dialogue wheel I hope that maybe if I mention this early on it will get fixed in this game.

I'll be using the Xbox 360 version as my example because that is the version I have played. I assume the problem exists on the PS3 and PC also.

So once I have completed the game a couple times (usually my third of fourth playthrough) I find myself using the 'X' button to quickly skip through conversations. The problem is that the 'X' button also selects your dialogue choice once the wheel comes up. A function that the 'A' button already serves; Infact i believe the game displays at some point to hit the 'A' button to select dialogue choices/stances.

Why does the 'X' button do this? This causes me to accidentally selecting the wrong stance and can lead to my character missing out on Items, stats, quests, and even sometimes characters. I can't count the number of times I've lost time because I accidentally picked the wrong dialogue stance and had to reload an older save. It's been a huge frustration for me and it seems it could easily be corrected by changing the 'X' button function to only skip through conversations and NOT select options on the dialogue wheel.

Thank you.

I never ran into this personally because generally speaking the quick click X is the neutral dialog option. So it's effect is minimal. At least to my experience it was.

Maybe you shouldn't skip the dialouge; while I've also experienced this I've learned not to skip the dialouge on quests that will get me nice loot you have no one to blame but yourself.

I think maybe something like Zaeed's quest in ME2 is a good example. Accidentally selecting the wrong option could effect his Loyalty and whether you gain (a pretty substantial amount) Renegade or Paragon points. I'm sure there are more but i'm having a hard time remembering specific examples from the games. Haven't played them in several months.

I don't see why it would be a problem to take this functionality away from the 'X' button; The 'A' button already does it!

Easy there killer, I'm not blaming anyone. Simply bringing up a frustration I had with the last few Bioware titles that I think is easily preventable. I can't be the only one who finds this annoying and it makes replaying the game less and less appealing everytime it happens.

*Puts away knife* I guess it's just me then; when I come to a difficulty in a game or even in real life I just tend to ignore it or adapt to it rather than complaining.

I usually do the same thing, which is why I am only bringing this up now after having played around it for 3 different Bioware titles spread over a 3 year period.

Something this simple to fix and with no discernable downside. I'd be doing Bioware a disservice if I continued to ignore it and adapt.

Hold the thumbstick in the direction you want Shepard to go--up-right for Paragon, straight-right for neutral, down-right for Renegade and so on. Problem solved.

EDIT: I mean hold it down through the entire conversation, even as you skip.

But I hope in DA2, Bioware does get rid of that, it's extremely annoying.

Doesn't happen in PC DA:O.

Happens in PC ME1/2 though.

Would like it if we could map "Skip Dialogue" to a different key from "Choose Dialogue".
