I've never played around with the DAO toolset, but I'd imagine lighting would be rather time-consuming and would be the last thing on the agenda when designing an area.

it's the general cartoony look of the so-called "new & exciting" graphic style, well that and it's pointy...

All I'm saying is, that they may not have chosen the ideal location to take their first few screenshots. Just reserve judgement until you see something from a city or a forest... hell even an interior screenshot.
i agree! A lot of people are over reacting too much. I doubt this is the final graphics of the game. There's a lot more we haven't seen from the game so far like the trailer and actual gameplay videos. It's too early to judge this from a graphical point of view unless the company announced that this will be final which i doubt it would be.
While we wait for more information, guys please

These look fantastic! The long female hair gives me hope of better hair choices, but shes a pre-made character, so who knows.
I'm afraid her hair is along the same lines as Morrigan's and Miranda's--she can be pretty and feminine, but not you!

Oh I hope not! I want to have pretty hair too!
The characters look really good to me, but I'm no expert. I don't really like the look of the darkspawn though. The ogre's kinda cool, but the others look like they're wearing the stuff tires are made out of on their heads.
As to the backgrounds, I do agree they look kind of plain, but they're probably in a desert or something. Anyway, maybe we'll see better ones in the future.

I like the dragon and the ogre. From the way the ogre stands, it looks like its animations won't have changed from DAO, just its appearance. The hurlocks (?), I don't know. It looks like they're trying to move the darkspawn away from the LoTR orc stereotype. However that armor reminds me of Samurai Jack for some reason.

You really LIKE the dragon?????????? I understand having the ogre horns and stuff but the whole creature lookes flat and distorted...........the dragons in DAO look so much better.

Definte pre-order! TW2 i s shaping up to be the RPG of 2011. As for DA2, well, we will have to wait and see. Not looking good so far............rastakore wrote...
Graphically the game pales in comparison with Witcher 2, but I have no doubts it will get getter and will be a very good game nevertheless. But now I'm really more looking forward the Witcher 2, it looks sick...

Why are they holding those sticks? Are they trying to make Dragon barbecue?
yummy.

Yes now this is what graphics is all about ..........thank you for posting this....when you compare these two to any of the screenshots currently going up for DA2 it is almost embarrassing.

I'm probably the only person in the world that's seen this, but Bethany kind of reminds me of Charlotte Riley. A lot. As in they're so similar it's frightening.
