I like the dragon and the ogre. From the way the ogre stands, it looks like its animations won't have changed from DAO, just its appearance. The hurlocks (?), I don't know. It looks like they're trying to move the darkspawn away from the LoTR orc stereotype. However that armor reminds me of Samurai Jack for some reason.

I've never played around with the DAO toolset, but I'd imagine lighting would be rather time-consuming and would be the last thing on the agenda when designing an area.

it's the general cartoony look of the so-called  "new & exciting" graphic style, well that and it's pointy...

These look fantastic! The long female hair gives me hope of better hair choices, but shes a pre-made character, so who knows.

All I'm saying is, that they may not have chosen the ideal location to take their first few screenshots. Just reserve judgement until you see something from a city or a forest... hell even an interior screenshot.

i agree! A lot of people are over reacting too much.  I doubt this is the final graphics of the game. There's a lot more we haven't seen from the game so far like the trailer and actual gameplay videos. It's too early to judge this from a graphical point of view unless the company announced that this will be final which i doubt it would be.

While we wait for more information, guys please

I'm afraid her hair is along the same lines as Morrigan's and Miranda's--she can be pretty and feminine, but not you!

Oh I hope not! I want to have pretty hair too!

The characters look really good to me, but I'm no expert. I don't really like the look of the darkspawn though. The ogre's kinda cool, but the others look like they're wearing the stuff tires are made out of on their heads.

As to the backgrounds, I do agree they look kind of plain, but they're probably in a desert or something. Anyway, maybe we'll see better ones in the future.

As I have stated in other forums I will buy this because I need a new game and it will most likely be ok and better then some, I am not feeding any grand delusion that this will be a game of the year type game or even compete for one. After seeing some of the screenshots to date all I have left to rely on is a good storyline cuz the graphic portion just aint up to any of the previous standards. Heck I would say the 2D baldurs gate would blow the doors off whats showing up as screen shots. But that is just my opinion and hopefully when it is up and running on my pc it will be better then what i see now. (whats with the pointy angular armor???) Well once it is released hopefully the community can create a bunch of mods to fix it!!!

Look at her robes!!! They look awesome and with pretty details! Her hair!!! YESS.

The rest? Terrible. :( I hope that's not the final lightning. And what happened to all the details (the sky... is that the fade?)? The darkspawn look strange... and... monkey-like.

I approve of the ammount of detail on Hawke, the woman, and the dragon. The darkspawn definitely look incomplete to me though. The skybox, and well, the enviroment in general definitely need to be spruced up. Don't get me wrong, I understand that this isn't what the final version will look like, just offering my critique.

You really LIKE the dragon?????????? I understand having the ogre horns and stuff but the whole creature lookes flat and distorted...........the dragons in DAO look so much better.

Graphically the game pales in comparison with Witcher 2, but I have no doubts it will get getter and will be a very good game nevertheless. But now I'm really more looking forward the Witcher 2, it looks sick...

Definte pre-order!  TW2 i s shaping up to be the RPG of 2011.  As for DA2, well, we will have to wait and see.  Not looking good so far............

I'm willing to wait and see. I actually think I like a lot of that, apart from the darkspawn and the lighting. And maybe the terrain textures, I dunno.

Yes now this is what graphics is all about ..........thank you for posting this....when you compare these two to any of the screenshots currently going up for DA2 it is almost embarrassing.

I'm probably the only person in the world that's seen this, but Bethany kind of reminds me of Charlotte Riley. A lot. As in they're so similar it's frightening.

I'm hoping there are actual similarities, and I'm not going blind.

Really hope they let you import your DAO/Awakening character to DA2; It would be interesting to see how everything looks with the better graphics (Armor, Weapons ect.) *crosses his fingers*

It's a bit of a bummer how far behind DA2 seems to be graphicswise in comparison to Witcher 2. Clearly BioWare is the more experienced developer and has been able to push out some impressive graphics in ME2. I recognize the graphics are a pretty minor feature in a good RPG, but still, the difference in quality here is glaring. Here's to hoping DA2 will A) Improve it's graphics signicifantly before release, and B) Be a much, much longer and richer game in other aspects, even if it loses to Witcher 2 in the graphics department. :)
