Thread title is a bit of a misnomer. Also, I'm pretty sure none of my fellow fans can tell me for sure, but maybe someone can make an educated guess...

Will we be able to launch DA2 from the DAO main screen? I just think it would be terribly practical if I could find it under the 'Other Campaigns' tab. Or more precisely, I'd pick a main game to be the default, and the other main game would be under Other Campaigns along with Awakening and the standalone addons. Or some other way to sort campaigns together with their addons and allow you to switch between campaigns from the main screen.

My guess would be that, since it's entirely different software (rather than an add-on to existing software, like Awakening and the DLC campaigns were) no, I wouldn't count on it.

It uses the same basic engine, though. I know, an engine is far from everything, but even below that level of coding there's nothing that should keep it from being launchable from the same interface. At worst you'll lose out on some preloading of game resources. Just a question of whether it'll be possible, ie. whether Bioware is at all interested in walking that mile.

Again, I thought it'd be convenient. Save up on space for desktop icons, have all my Dragon Age stuff in one handy shortcut.

You won't be able to. None of the Infinity Engine games could be launched from each other, and it wouldn't make any real sense for them to make it so you could launch Dragon Age 2 from Origins. It would have to close the application down and then open up DA2.
Same engine, sure, but it's going to be a different version of it.

I'm going to guess "no." New game probably means new launcher. Only Origins content will probably be launched from the DAO launcher. Could be wrong though, and some integration between games would be cool in my book.
