I don't personally like the term queer. It's usually used as a degoratory term for those fab5/hair dresser/celebrity gays. Stereotypes!
Yeah, as Maria and swirlwind mentioned earlier, the evolution/repurposing of the term has been interesting. It is worth noting that it's acquired academic legitimacy - a number of universities have Queer Studies departments and/or programs. I just wanted to say that the term does have increasingly widespread and non-derogatory use, but I could understand someone rejecting the term as a label, totally - and I imagine we'd all agree that everyone should be able to self-identify as they please. Which is why, even if a long acronym is a bit unwieldy and the subject of gentle mocking, it's better than the alternative of forcing people into overly-broad categories.

just remember..... no matter how popular gay culture gets, don't give in to queer pressure.
You're my new favourite.
If you wanna get all technical and whatnot I am a lesbian (a semi-femi if
you're down with the lingo), but would I ever willingly put myself
under the LGBTWHATEVER banner? Oh, hell no! Sorry, so not a team player on this one.
In general my experience with The [gay] Community (like The Family, mafioso-style) has been so off-putting that I just pretend to be straight. Of course I don't paint everyone with the same brush and there's some very positive people/points too, but the ratio is so overwhelming the idea of it all is just..."ick, must we go through this again?"
Ah, c'est la vie.
[EDIT: Re-reading what I wrote with that moonface picture next to it just cracks me up]

Sounds delicious. Maria is also now my favorite person.
I'm a definite Ally, but otherwise not in the above banner. I've been to support meetings and rallies for the various causes but I am a guy who liekes the womens.

I've never considered myself to be flamboyant or effeminite enough to take part of gay parades, movements and whatnot. And I don't feel the need to wave "hey I'm gay" -flag above my head or yell it to every people who passes by on the street either. I find it a bit odd when people think that every gay person is like that.
Yea I'm the same way. I rather stay here and stop the reapers then the blight.

Q = queer
Q = questioning.

Yup, I'm B. Had no idea the acronym had ballooned to such a degree past LGBT though. That's so long I rather invent a shorter umbrella word for convenience's sake.Also, I'm not a fan of water buffalo, never played System Shock, and find SHODAN creepy in that HR Giger way. I also scoff at all snacks japanese. Then again, considering my other options in japanese snack foods... yeah, I'd go for Pocky. O_o
How can you be anti-water buffalo? And SHODAN is supposed to be creepy.
The other Japanese snacks I've had were sweet buns filled with red bean paste, soy cakes, 'mochi' which is ice cream balls surrounded by rice dough, and jerky made from squid.
The were all very good. I find a great deal of American treats are just overwhelming sweetness with little flavor.

I agree on american snacks. Most of them are saturated with sugar and/or artificial flavoring to the point it drowns out anything else. It isn't subtle and hard to savor. It's why I rarely buy sweets here and instead wait for a relative to visit Europe or South America and bring me something from there. Unless it's chocolate. I've a weakness for chocolate. =)
I admit I haven't tried many japanese snacks. The few I did, such as those sweet buns you mentioned, were okay. Just okay. I actually enjoy japanese food more than snacks.
