I just wondered how many times everyone has played through the game, I've done three so far (Warrior, Rogue and Magi), but have not followed any guides for good character builds for either so am tempted to play through again following the guide for one of the better warrior builds to see how it plays out when you actually set your warden up properly.
How Many Play-Throughs?

Twice with my main character, and once with my evil character, so a total of three times. The first time with my good character was just to see what it was like, and I "edited" his storyline on his second playthrough.
It IS too bad Bioware chose not to follow through the rest of the RPG category via "New Game Plus"

More than I can recall.
Like the OP, I started with the base 3 classes. Then expanded to play each Origin completely, which included the ladies POV for a few. Then decided to play many of the specs and class builds possible.
And I still discover new dialogue or plot pts unseen before; great stuff!

City Elf Rogue, Dwarf Noble Warrior. Working on a mage now, but I have done the origin for all of them just to see what it was like.

11 complete and Dalish Elf Female underway, which will complete the set. Plus 3 just far enough to pick up school of magic achievements. But it seems I'm finally hitting the wall - gonna have to find some other obsession for a while.

Think the only one I am missing completely is a Human Mage; prefer Elven male and female here due to the racial bonuses.
I thought I had hit the wall myself, until I see something I missed previously. I hungrily await the patch to give Stealing a real workout!

Seven; One for each origin and I try to RP how they would see the world. Then I have one extra(me a human mage) which is how I would make choices, and some minor canon/meta game knowledge, but he is a mage surely he found some books in the Tower all his time there and knew about all the history

From start to finish only once. But I have like 8 other saved games going. I start a new game, play awhile, get bored, start another, etc.

That's like the opposite of me. I dislike the beginning as opposed to the ending....aside from the Origin stories. The more I play a character the more I want to see it through.
To answer the thread's question, 1 playthrough, going on the 2nd, and then off to Awakening for at least one of them, depending on how fun it is. I doubt there'll be any more, as it will be StarCraft time by then

Start to finish?
Shuensha - 1
Oki - 1
Odelia - 5
Neela - .05 (almost T_T)
The rest are....let's just say very many.

Four so far - human noble rogue, human mage, dwarf noble warrior, and dalish elf warrior. I'm planning to play through each origin beginning to end by the time DA2 comes out, so just two more to go. After that, maybe once more with another mage. And by then I really should have done everything and be ready to move on.
I'm astonished at the number of things I discovered on my fourth run that I'd never seen before - never defeated Gaxkang before, for example. Even now there are side quests I've never finished.

Now you my friend, are a credit to us all, and have set the benchmark we all need to aspire to
Getting back to my original post, I've just started my 4th playthrough of Dragon Age, but I am considering instead of continuing with it, of now buying it for PC so I can use the mods and muck about with it. This is truly one of first games I have ever been this addicted to playing which says a lot (from my point of view) of how enjoyable a game it is, and why Dragon Age 2 can't come around quick enough

Too Many to Count. I have deleted some because I am trying to create a Canon Character for each Origin. I have so many unfinished characters out there I had to create extra profiles just to hold them all on my console. I really need to weed out the ones I will never finish.
Canon Mage - Ragnar
Canon Dwarf Noble Male - Etan
Canon Dwarf Commoner Female - Miriam
Canon Human Noble Female - Brownyn

I think it's 5 complete playthroughs to get achievements for different origins and classes. But the number of hours played combined on all non-completed playthroughs is probably more than 5 complete playthroughs together...

1 complete with my Mage Daylen, almost finished Awakening with him as well. I'm about to create a female Mage to try that out, and am thinking of doing the US end. After that, I think I will do a true canon playthrough with Daylen.
Just a pity I don't have more time, it takes a long time to get through the game lol.
