I think since you can not see the rest of the body you can barley tell it was a woman.Ask a person who did not see the original pic what they see.

Yes. It. Is. It's one thing for the armor type to look pretty much the same on all bodies, except stature and gender accomadations. It's another thing entirely for previous gigantic plate armor to suddenly shrink to cover her part of her breasts and crotch. It is so damn different. The fact that you even go so far as to mention this just tells me you really aren't getting it.

Skimpy clothes tend to be lighter, on account of having less material:wizard:

GRE:LGJKE:LKJGR;ljaksdf;jkl I'm about to lose my mind, you're being so obtuse! WHO CARES IF THEY ARE LIGHTER. THEY PROVIDE NO PROTECTION UPON BEING STRUCK. LIGHTER ARMOR PROTECTS WHILE STILL BEING MANEUVERABLE. Again, if that's the case, and skimpy clothes are better for rogues why don't men wear them as well?! Why doesn't anyone ever wear skimpy clothes into battle?! Answer is: they don't! Because it's freaking stupid!

EDIT: I mean, in history, why doesn't anyone go into battle naked (except ye olde Celts). Don't give me throwaway examples. Fact is, they didn't.

I argue that it makes no sense for a warrior to dress like a guy fighting in closed formation when he´s fighting alone or with 3 companions. And I hate these classes. God I´d so love if DA2 would get rid of classes completely...

Re:above

No, someone said they want to feel badass like men. I argue that skimpy outfits are more badass. I admitted they are ridiculous, and I stand by both these statements.

It´s demeaning for men to be unable to dress like that. Why the hell should I choose to wear a huge, heavy metal thing around me in which I can hardly move and sweat like a pig, while female warriors are allowed to wear comfortable clothing that does not lessen their agility AND STILL GET THE SAME ARMOR RATING?! At least remove protection for them, then. Men are discriminated against so much in this aspect.

That's a problem! That's a goddamned problem that women wear skimpier armor and get the same armor rating! Women aren't made to be put in skimpy armor in games because it's an added bonus for men not women. Men go around protected because it makes sense in context. Women don't so they can look hot for the male eye. This is the problem. I have no idea why you're trying to turn this against my sex and say that you're being discriminated against. Ugh.

Should he really wear less?

This is one case that never appears pretty much any where else, and certainly not in games. An utterly ridiculous example to bring up.

Besides, I think the cape is silly. He should wear less.

3 women here. Yesterday I saw 50 wearing hotpants and armless tops with their boobs hanging out.
That should tell you something.

Oh god, you sexist pig, conversation over until I lose my temper again and come screaming back in an incoherent rage.

No.

You know what.

Conversation not over. Incoherent rage now.

Are these women in the middle of a battle? Are they fighting for their lives? Are arrows, swords, and daggers coming at them from every angle?

And I have no idea where the hell you live so that you see this all the time, but these women need a fashion check.

Are you a radical feministress? Because I certainly think so. I don´t see why this is a problem. I don´t know about you, but I can respect women as humans with equal rights, often equal or even superior abilities etc... instead of sex objects and STILL appreciate sexy clothing and beauty.

Yes, some / most of them DO need a Fashion check.
I would like to know, though, why it makes me a "sexist pig" if I see women? Should I pretend they don´t exist or what? It is not ME who forced them to dress like that. They do it because they WANT to.

You´re right, Germany it is, Karlsruhe to be more concrete.

Well I admit, I´m exaggerating a bit. But you can´t disagree that in Summer, many women prefer revealing clothing.

Concept art for Triss Merigold in The Witcher 2.

She's a sorceress, and she got a serious makeover from the first game where she basically dressed like a hooker.

If you don't see a problem with lopsided sexualisation, then you're either blind or in denial.
Are you seriously trying to convince yourself that it makes inherent sense for a woman warrior to dress up in a chainmail bustier and leather hotpants? It would be "realistic" for them to be rendered "****ty", to quote your own words?

I think Saibh is right. This does smell like latent blatant sexism.

To make the setting more realistic, every chainmail bikini for a female should be compensated by a loin cloth for a male. By Crom.

I don't think I'll customize Hawke's appearance. Personally I love that above picture. I think that is a great look. I love the hair, I love the tattoo (which you can't see in that pic but can elsewhere), I love the skin tone and the dark eyes and how well they match between the two characters.

With ME I didn't customize Shepard, but that was more because only the default seemed to look somewhat natural. I dunno, anything else just seemed...off. But with this...it's because I specifically want my Hawke to look like that.

Holy crap!  He looks like GI Joe (w/ the Kung Fu grip).  I'm going to have to customize him now or I'll have "This is GI Joe reporting for duty" going through my head the whole time.

Well, IMHO, I don't think functional utility is at the top of the list of why game designers add females to games and dress them like they do. I would think female character design is driven entirely by what titilates men, the purported primary gaming market. To argue that the way women are armored in games makes no sense...makes no sense.

Obviously, game designers know that the "armor" on the female characters is useless and insulting to women. IMO, their objectives are not based on promoting reality, hence railing against the machine from a rational basis is useless. May as well rage against male chauvinism or privilege generally. Until female gamers are percieved as a promary market, the objectification of women in games will likely not change much. IMO, it's probably better to advocate for and against root causes than to focus on a manifestation as if the manifestation itself is the problem.

Oh, when it comes to games like WoW, I accept that's how the women are going to look. But in any BioWare game, it seems to me that they always have the utmost respect for women and realize that women make up a damn big percentage in their market.

My entire, whole, beginning point was that it's offensive when it happens, and it is, but I don't boycott the game. But Tirigon went so far as to say it was more "realistic" and that it made sense and that all female warriors should dress like that. That's where I lost my marbles. :P

There's really nothing wrong with some sexuality or eroticism in games, as long as there is thought given to it and not every single woman is next to naked and wants to jump your character's bones.

To be fair, all the women in ME2 are pretty damn seductive, and by design, so Bioware is not guiltless when it comes to objectifying women.

They do a better job than most devs, though.

Maybe because the main market for games are usually young males full of hormones.
