I said in a previous Patch Update thread that I experienced very few bugs (if any at all) in any of my playthroughs and got flamed. I clarified and said "I never said they didn't exist, simply that I haven't had them" and still got flamed by trolls. But it did happen, just like I said when I warned Dodco. So yes, people (myself included) were getting flamed for saying stuff like that.
@cmessaz: I feel the same way. I never once said they didn't exist, just that I haven't had most of them at all in any of my playthroughs.

Just wanted to clarify! I know some don't get it at all, and I am jealous of them. :)

About the only problem I've ever had with the game, before or after 1.03, was some of the end-game battles would slow down a little when 15 or so characters (including darkspawn) would be in battle all at once, but that's just my horrible cpu. I really need a new processor lol..

When I do the final battle, I have to chant "please don't use spirit smite" repeatedly, because if Archi does I will likely CTD and have to start over.

@cmessaz: Well, I hope this patch fixes that for you and any others having the same issue. And yes, I'm including the trolls in that statement. Just because they are trolls and have to believe that everyone that disagrees with them is either stupid or lying doesn't mean they don't deserve a patch that works :). After all, they are people too lol.. Kinda..

It's just unthinkable people flame you for that...
I also never had a crash or freeze while playing with any of the patches.
The problems I had are:
- the DLC authorization / download staying at 0%. But that can be fixed.
- also very poor framerate and rapidly increasing loading times. Solved that with TLB_Disable.exe + Advanced Memory Optimizer.
It's a shame that Bioware hasn't fixed those problems yet. Anyways: I'm also waiting for the patch :bandit:

Glad to hear the fabled patch is finally becoming reality. Never had any problems before 1.03 but I basically can't even play a mage (really wanted to do one of those solos) because any time there's 3 or more spell effects going off at once on screen, it will CTD. I'm also having this aggravating problem on my 2H warrior solo where the helmet and sometimes even the gloves will "meld" with the character (I load up and the 2 slots are empty as those items are nowhere to be found BUT the stats are still on my character and I can put MORE helmets/gloves on to further add to the stats.) This usually happens sometime during the Fade but recently found it happening after Cadash Thaig (character is L20 at the point with only Brecilian Forest main quest to go.) It's enough to make me want to stop playing period. This melding seems mainly to happen with Bergen's Honor.

I doubt it if it's not on the list. I used to play on PS3 but the bugs drove me to buy the PC version. There is an unofficial mod which fixes that, but sadly not available to console owners.

Thanks, however, patching does not always work like this.  Not all patching carries over the content of previous patches. You obviously do not own NWN1 or NWN2. Here you need to install numerous earlier patches before the most current, otherwise you will miss some corrections/content.

The reason I asked this is cos I do not want  to install the crap from 1.03. If 1.04 carries this as well, then I will forget it and continue using 1.02 and mods that fix most of what 1.04 does anyway...

Image IPB
That proves you wrong on the NWN front.

Patch 1.03 carries the fixes from the previous patches, therefore it's safe to assume 1.04 will carry the changes from 1.03 and earlier (PC at least). What I meant was that you cannot skip a patch, whether they're retroactive or not. If you wish to upgrade to 1.04, you will need to have 1.03 installed in some manner - either seperately or with the 1.04 patch.

Not exactly. If you're the guy I think you are, you claimed(in that previous update) that you didn't experience bugs that everyone has. Again, many bugs are system-independant flaws in the game mechanics or scripts, instead of just crashes and freezes. Everyone has those with no exception. Like the +healing modifiers not working since the game came out, some quests missing their proper rewards, items not being where they should be(Ancient Elven Boots on PC anyone?) etc. A given player may not notice these bugs, but he still has them, everyone has those. If I recall correctly, you just shrugged everything off and proclaimed everyone who didn't agree with you to be a troll. I'd check your previous posts to confirm, but you've got me on your blocklist, despite me never flaming or trolling anyone, which only serves to strengthen that suspicion, but I digress. If, unlikely as it may be, you aren't actually that guy(though I've got no idea why I would be on your blocklist otherwise and you seem to be calling awfully many people trolls in your posts, which fits), I apoligize in advance.

Anyway, if I'm lucky the new patch fixes the one serious, reproducable crash I get(and hopefully all those that other people have experienced). Once the game is stable for (most) everyone, maybe we'll see fixes for all the small(and not quite so small) bugs that still exist.

That's simply wrong, as has been stated multiple times (and I've tested it).
Patches are cumulative.  1.04 will include everything that 1.03 had, plus new fixes, plus fixes for everything that 1.03 broke or bent.
If you're doing a clean install of Origins with Awakening, install Origins, then Awakening (which will install 1.03) and install 1.04 over the top of it--and you will have a current install.  If you're doing a clean install of Origins without awakening, install Origins then 1.04, and you will have a current install.
You do *not* need to have any old patch installed to get a new one working--in fact, there are cases where 1.03 (and 1.02) had *more* trouble installing over previous patches (the diff/binary patch thing didn't "see" what it was looking for and died with an error code) than when installing over a clean vanilla DA:O.

Edit:
Okay, I think you were trying to say the right thing, but your phrasing of "you will need to have 1.03 installed in some manner" threw me off.  As long as the patch actually releases today, I'll survive...

@oFallenAngel: You're not on my block list. Just checked. My profile is private, however. Maybe that's why you can't see it. But if you read my earlier posts in this thread, you will see that I also said the bugs are not system dependent and I never once said they were. And the only people I called trolls were the trolls. The ones that would flame me no matter what I said. At any rate, it has already been figured out why myself and a few other gamers here don't have certain bugs, such as the ones that cause crashes or the Stealing issue. Since that has already been discussed to its end and then some, I'm not going to be the one to open that can of worms back up.

But no, I didn't call just anyone who disagreed with me a troll. Just those who flamed for no other apparent reason other than them obviously having nothing else to do.

Ok, that was kind of confusing for me, and I've been following the back-n-forth between you guys.

If  (and yes, we'll all know for sure pretty soon...) BioWare followed their usual pattern, one will NOT need anything but the most recent patch to be "fully up-to-date" on the PC platform (can't speak for the other ones.)  Their patches are cumulative and comprehensive.  Each contains all of the (still relevant) changes that were a part of the previous ones.

You can go from a clean retail disc install, add ONLY  the 1.04 patch, and be done.  Or, you can add 1.04 on top of your current install of 1.01b, 1.02a, 1.03... whatever.  If you're not already on 1.03, you do NOT need to add it first..  Just go straight to 1.04.

As the pre-Release Notes indicated, if you patch to 1.04, and then LATER add (or re-install) DA:Awakenings, you'll have to re-run 1.04 (or whatever the most current patch is at that point.)

I see where the confusion stemmed. What I was trying to say is (assuming the patches aren't cumulative for this example) you can't install 1.04 without 1.03 being installed beforehand. Unless the patch is cumulative, you cannot skip a version.

Then what do you have to do when you have the steam version?

Install Awakening first?

Or do a regular install?
