So... in other words... You're still not updating the toolset or fixing any of the those bugs? You're still not releasing the source for Awakening? Srsly?

...yeah... WAY too little, way too late.  You guys may have all the excuses in the world for only now fixing these bugs which people complained about MONTHS ago, but as gamers, most people won't put up with it.  Most people will never see 1.04 because it is TOO LATE.

Bioware, you must know that most of your hardcore DAO fans are still completely disenfranchised. People complain about valve-time... yet at least they patch their games on a bi-monthly basis and keep their toolset up to date.

They are releasing a patch now. Yeah they could have made it sooner. So what? They are making it now, and I say it's time to give them a pat in the back and congratulate them on a job well done.

How can you do any of this when the patch hasn't even been made available yet?  For all we know it'll bring its own host of problems like 1.03.

I won't lie to you, Victor, I was beginning to lose faith, even with work being done. BUT you have been doing your job and then some, with keeping us updated. I must say that I am glad that (despite the failed attempt to solve Vigilance/Sentinel Armor) that the vast majority of all the important bugs have been taken care of. Thank you!

You know, I am now kind of sorry I never saw this bug, as I imagine the comedy potential would be enormous depending on who appeared. I'm now curious to know who Morrigan was accidentally having sex with. Was Loghain impregnating her FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE?

The female player would have sex with Morrigan, impregnating her with dead Alistair's baby, if I recall correctly.

Now thats a ghost story.

Maybe it was because of us griping about the PC patch being ready that they were allowed to release it slightly earlier than the console patches . . . did you ever consider that?

Maybe it was because a magic unicorn came to them in their sleep and ordered them to release it before the console patches...did you ever consider that?

They never said that the PC patch would be released at the same time as the console patches.  People just assumed that for no good reason, and got all pissed off about what they had assumed.

If you're going to get pissed off about a random assumption, though, you should go for the gold.  "Bioware said the patch will probably be released on Monday...why not today?! I'm going to assume it's because the Bioware folks are planning on an orgy of nun-rape and baby-murder all weekend!  Those evil bastards! Bioware employees should all be rounded up and put in jail forever!"

Well, I'm glad Bioware is continuing support. I'll also wait for Qwinn to update his fixpack for this new patch as I find him more reliable and expansive in his fixes.

I bet this patch is gonna bring some problems.

I'm thinking the same thing, especially after that horrendous 1.03 patch.  I'm not going to celebrate until I see what's working & what's not.  If it turns out to be another dud, I'll be downgrading to 1.02a again.  Image IPB

What are those? Are game fixes as well ?

Looks like known issues that they won't be fixing at this time.  Image IPB

You do realize that you're the only person that can see your signature like that, right?  To make them visable to other people, you need to upload them to an external site (i.e. ImageShack, PhotoBucket) then copy the URLs over.

I swear to god, I hear less complaining and ****ing at the bi-annual Emo convention I'm forced to work. Either be happy there is a patch or drop the game. If all you wanna do is moan about stuff, please do it where my life doesn't get affected by your misanthropic, deleterious, holier-than-thou, get on my ******, pain in the ass negativity.

It's a game folks, not genocide, an illegal war or a massive financial depression. Get some perspective in your lives.

And before I get some " I spent x amount of cash on the game' comments, my simple answer is I don't care. No, really, I don't care.

<------ That is the face of someone not caring.

Yes, Bioware could have had patches out quicker. Yes, better QA may have stopped some of the issues. Yes, Qwinn (sp?) has done some good work. But for the love of the holy caffeinated bean, get lives folks.

And before y'all start flaming me and making me your new idol of hatred, let me repeat one very relevant comment:

I don't care.

Is this sarcasm? If not you should perhaps pay a little more attention to what this guy is saying. I'm also adopting a "wait and see" approach on this patch. I'm not 100% convinced the crashing problems are sound related. It could in theory be to do with memory leaks which have been fixed, but I'm not certain of that either.

If the crashes aren't fixed for you, you're going to feel a little premature in congratulating them.

This patch is a good start, but there are still a lot of things that need fixing. Hopefully this is a new attitude being shown and them learning from their mistakes, and more patches and news of them will be coming in the near future. It was nice to get weekly updates instead of months of silence with the only communication being about dlc.

Agreed, the weekly updates were great.  I hope they will also let us know what their future patching plans are.

(Awakening) Silverite Mine Issues
Some players have experienced a situation where it is possible to enter the Silverite Mine in the Wending Wood early by picking the lock to the door (despite the lock initially appearing to be impossible to pick) prior to completing the quest with Velanna.  Due to technical limitations, we will be unable to patch this issue and as such we wish to communicate to players to avoid this situation.

Entering the Silverite Mine early may result in loss of some inventory as well as broken plot flags due to prior quests not being completed properly. Normally, the door will unlock after fully resolving the encounter with Velanna and the player should not attempt to enter the Silverite Mine before then.

AND

(Awakening) Armor sets: Sentinel Armor & Vigilance Sword (Xbox 360 and PS3), Blackblade Armor (All platforms)
Unfortunately, we are unable to fix the issues concerning these armor sets and the Vigilance Sword. Due to various limitations surrounding what we can and cannot patch concerning DLC content, very strict limits in the size of console title updates, and the state of some of the assets we attempted to implement, we regret to inform you that these items will not be fixed at this time.

There is a workaround for the appearance of the Sentinel Armor and the Vigilance Sword on consoles, and that is to not have the Soldier’s Peak/Grey Warden Base DLC installed. We realize this is not by any means an ideal solution, but regrettably we will be unable to fix this properly and for that we apologize.

Those 2 really ****** me off, since they were the issues i most wanted fixed. Ah well, I guess i'll go and delete the DLC I paid for so i can see my shiny new armour.

Overall, quite a good number of fixes. I just pray that it doesnt introduce new problems - lets face it guys, its a serious possibility Image IPB

Congratulations BW for (eventually) fixing (well mostly fixing) a game we all love. Image IPB

This and all the other b****ing and moaning in the other patch update threads always make me think the same thing... how is it that these people are able to purchase the game?  It clearly says on the case that it is for "mature audiences only." =P

I can understand being somewhat upset that the game doesn't function as it should in many regards, but complaining about it like a girl who got a 'burgundy-red' instead of 'cherry-red' convertible at her sweet 16 isn't going to do much as far as fixing it is concerned.  Programming is a very difficult and time-consuming process, and one incorrect variable here or one missing if-then statement there can cause the whole segment to not work as designed.  And even if they know exactly where to look in order to fix it, sometimes fixing one problem opens up two more.  That's why the problems tackled first are the ones that make the most difference in making the game as a whole run smoothly.  It sucks that there are lots of problems, but BW isn't exactly sleeping on beds of our money and watching us complain.

As for disenfranchising hardcore DAO fans... the fact that they are 'hardcore fans' would lead me to believe they'd be the last players to give up.  You have a point that lots of their customers may have traded in the game and/or not purchased DLC because of the state of the game/patches, but I'd say they still have quite a following.

Is there any confirmation whatsoever that the Alistair-is-always-king bug is fixed yet? i could care less about other things (though the fixing dagger issue is nice) but seriously if this isn't fixed I'm prolly not gonna play it, I'm not wasting playthroughs if I can't actually choose my choices to reflect in DA2

Normally, the door will unlock after fully resolving the encounter with Velanna and the player should not attempt to enter the Silverite Mine before then.

This note does not address the fact that even if the encounter with Velanna has been correctly resolved, there are MANY cases where the Warden ends up naked rather than in prison clothing, and the Warden's inventory does not properly show up on the doppelganger.

(Awakening) Armor sets: Sentinel Armor & Vigilance Sword (Xbox 360 and PS3), Blackblade Armor (All platforms)
Unfortunately, we are unable to fix the issues concerning these armor sets and the Vigilance Sword.

This note does not address the fact that two out of four pieces of the Blackblade Armor cannot normally be obtained (but may possibly be obtained as unlikely random drops)

Overall, then, for my list of issues I was still tracking (with my assigned severity) that might not be fixed:

Endgame dialogue issues ("Alistair is still king" bug):  Not fixed in 1.04.  Fixed by mods for PC,  No workaround for consoles, severity 2 out of 5 (affects gameplay/immersion)

"Find Vitals" bug:  Not fixed in 1.04.  Fixed by mods for PC, no workaround for Consoles, severity 2 out of 5.

Silverite Mines inventory bug for Warden:  Not fixed in 1.04.  No mod.  Only workaround is to save before becoming a prisoner.  Severity 3 out of 5 (severe impact, possibly almost gamebreaking for some players if no recent saves)

Ancient Elven Boots:  Still not fixed in 1.04.  Fixed by mods for PC, doesn't show up on Consoles.  Severity 1 out of 5 (lower severity only because mods are a "complete" fix.)

Where's the rest of my Blackblade armor?:  Still not fixed in 1.04.  Fixed by mods for PC, no workaround for consoles, severity 2 out of 5.

Warden Commander Armor and other skin issues:  Not fixed in 1.04, and likely will never be completely fixed.  Fixed by mods for PC, severity 2 out of 5 (affects gameplay/immersion)

"Delayed Death" bug (and other issues with slowness in combat):  Might be fixed in 1.04, wait and see.  More news to follow.

Additional percent to healing (item property):  Not fixed in 1.04.  Fixed by mods for PC, no workaround for consoles, severity 1 out of 5 (seriously, if it's still broken the way I think it is, I *still*  have never noticed since those sort of details are mostly hidden/have limited precision.)

If anyone wants to comment or correct any of the above, feel free.  At this point I'd describe my attitude as "guarded optimism" but I fear that the balance in Awakening will still be fatally flawed (way too easy) once I can actually play it.
EDIT:  Fixed bogus quoting issues.

No, no confirmation of that being fixed as of yet. However, I can't see that causing a problem with DA2. If we're going with a new main character, then the game will most likely not have a save import feature and the events of who is king/queen and who killed the archdemon will be the same no matter how you played out DA:O.

By "doesn't show up on consoles", do you mean that the boots don't show up?  I'm playing on the 360 with the bare game (no title updates at all), and the boots show up just fine for me.  I was under the impression that the bug was PC-only.  Another good reason for the low severity is that the tier for the boots is only 4, it can't be scaled up via party storage chest or merchants, and by the time you've run around Ferelden to complete the set, you probably already have equipment that's leagues better.
