B: If there isn't, am I the only one who thinks there should be? You spend so long on a character's face just to hide it? Why?

However, when helms are visible you can't see your face detail anyway. The helms are removed during cutscenes.
Its not a bigdeal.

It's minor, but I imagine the code would be too.

iirc, the helm removal is part of the cutscene actions and not any kind of switch that simply isn't used anywhere else.
Sure. But really, we can be talking about much more than a simple matter of telling something not to render, and a switch that says wheter or not to make that the case. It would only need to say to render as if there were no helmet, IE, ignore the headgear and refresh. That can't be very hard.

Its a small issue but has an equally a small fix, I'm sure we'll see something soon.

This isn't exactly minor (for me) when I really don't like the way most helmets/headgear I've encountered so far look. Resulting from that I generally don't equip headgear of any type at all (regardless of character, unless it happens to look good, which is rare).
Aye, I hate having to choose betwee stats and looks...

I don't mind it too much, seeing as it's removed during cut scenes, as it should.

for the warriors howeva the helm makes it so much more authentic, they have done a very good job on the look. would be a shame to not see it in game.

There's a big thread proposing this function in the "old DA:O forum" and as far as I remember reading it the devs didn't say no ^^
One of the devs said he wouldn't mind putting it in, but if it ever gets on the list of things to do, it would be at the bottom. So as of right now, it may or may not happen.

Frankly most helms I've encountered blows stat-wise... unless you're tanking and would like to squeeze a little extra armor... and if that's the case... who in their right mind would tank without a helmet?
I don't mind it too much, seeing as it's removed during cut scenes, as it should.
Then you havnt found alot of helms, 1 perfect example is the Honnleath helm which is 2 to all stats, bergens honor, first enchanters cowl etc etc... there plenty of good once... and most of them look like trash.. O how i wish bergens honor actually looked like the picture instead of a tincan.

I'm very thinkful I don't wear them in the cutscenes. Now if the camera man just was tall enough to see over my warrior's oversized pauldrons in some of the conversations.

Try playing a dwarf, all I see is the top of my hair.

I too hate having to choose between stats and looks.
