Anyone know why everyone in the game that isnt Shep only gets 29 instead of 30 points. Seems a bit odd since their isnt really much of a difference in builds since most people would focus on 2-3 skills to max out on.

Almost seems like they wanted people to put into the sometimes bad/mediocre loyalty abilities if anyone wanted to have a maxed out build. The only characters that get 30 (by level up) points consistantly are Miranda (confirmed by maxing out Warp, Overload, and her passive) and Jacob afaik. Maybe a possible fix for this when they get around to making another patch so that the rest of the team gets 30 points.

The reason for this is that Miranda and jacob already have one squad point on one of their abilities (Miranda: Overload , Jacob: Pull)so that you could use those abilities int the first two missions,the same thing goes for Shepard.I don't really think it's a bug , but yeah it would be nice if the other squad members also had 30 points.

Agreed. It kinda sucks, that you can't build some squadmates the way you want to. I doubt this will get patched, but it would be damn cool if it would.

This is why I got rid of the update. Get 10 squad points together, fill it to 3. Then press A and X at the same time. Causing you to gain all 10 points you lost, and gain the final upgrade. Max your skills pretty much right away.
