I would like to know if a Collector's Edition is in production for Dragon Age II?   (I know it is always announced late, but I am curious, nonetheless).

I don't think they have a notion of what editions will be available yet (that's what they said a week or so ago, and I don't think there are any more updates).

All AAA games get the stupid limited edition super edition game of the year edition only $19 more edition, digital delux edition, with exclusive item edition that's useless edition. Gaming industry big sponge, you water.

I do hope one is available, or at least it is under consideration

Yeah, I do have the Deluxe Edition of DAO for the computer, and indeed, that is a given.  However, my question/curiosity is geared towards the console (Xbox 360, PS3).

Sorry to sound crass (I'm sure this question was posed in earnest, and doesn't really deserve the following snarky answer, but here we go), but isn't this sort of like asking "Does EA/Bioware like additional revenue?"

If you believe (or know) that the answer to that question is 'yes', then I think it's safe to assume that there will be a Collector's Edition, seeing as these are product extensions that - while typically involving different package design, which is surprisingly cost-intensive- nevertheless are higher margin products due to 1) their increased price (20% over standard is common), 2) the rapidly diminishing total costs of producing exclusive "in-game" content, such as epic items, sharks with laser beams on their heads, and so on, and 3) their distribution strategy - as they can release a limited number to retailers and thus sell the majority directly to the consumer from the publisher, cutting out the middle man.

The real question is whether EA has the cajones to offer a SUPER Collector's edition, a la Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops Hardened Edition, which is retailing at an astounding $120. And, given the popularity of said franchise, I'll be surprised if those haven't sold out by Nov 15th.
