Anyone remember this one from about 3 years ago? Well, odd as may seem I've returned to the modding scene and am working on an update. It should be ready before the end of August.
For anyone interested so far I've done the following:
Added a new cutscene ending
Added map pins
Adjusted the night and day settings
Added a module description
lowered influence needed with Epona
rebablanced end encounter
rebalanced vampire in tower
added some new monsters and removed a few old ones
Removed lady/gentlemen of the night and put them inside the tavern
Removed annoying shadows in Stonedale and tavern
Currently working on extending the abandoned tower.
I have a huge list from the comments on the module page in the vault, but if anyone has any suggestions for the update please please them here (or on the new board - will putting a topic there as well).
If anyone is wondering why I am doing the update afyter all this time, well several reasons. I'll go with I want to get back into modding and thought the best way to relearn the toolset was to go back and update my first module.
I just hope that somewhere out there people still want to play it :)

Wow, I do vaguely recall this module some time back. I didn't play it, I have to admit. I think the premise of an update to get refamiliarized with the toolset is a great idea.

Looking forward to seeing how things turn out for you.

best regards,

I do indeed remember it. Although it didn't make it to the finals, it was actually a Golden Dragon Award nominee for Best Roleplaying Module of 2007. I playtested it for the AME and posted a lengthy review on the module page.

I thought it was a good debut effort and showed a lot of promise. IMO it's an underrated module that deserved better Vault reviews than it got, some of which I thought were a bit unfair. You clearly have a good mind for Story-based RP design (an often under-appreciated skill) and just needed to polish and improve on some technical points. I'm glad to see that you're returning to the modding scene and working on an update. Good luck!

Thanks for your welcome backs and support, to be honest I was expecting a less than enthusiastic response, especially being so late to the party so to speak. What I lack in timing, however, I do intend to make up with quantity (and hopefully quality). This update has 2 purposes for me. Firstly to fix as much as I can on the module, and secondly, while I am way off announcing something new, this update is to get me into a position to do another mod (possibly more).

Ah yes, I remember this one. Glad to hear you are returning to the modding arena. I remember finding A Secret in Stone quite enjoyable, if rough around the edges.

Welcome back. Sort of. It is the same community at any rate.

Hi all,

Well I'm about a third of the way through the update now, BUT I've become a bit stuck. I really hope somebody can help (will post this in the toolset section as well). I've done an area transition from a conversation and it's not working properly. When the PC (and companions) arrive at the new level they cannot move. At first I thought I had forgotten to bake the new area, but this is not case.

in the conversation I used the ga_area_transition script pointing to the appropriate way point and set the party transition from 0 to 1.

now this definitely works if you want to move your pc from on part of an area to another (as the current version of the module uses this), but I have no idea why it is not working from one area to another.

Thing is it is vital for the update, so any help much appreciated. Anyone got a clue?

You've baked the area, but the spot where you've sent the pc to may not be walkable. To test, send them to a wide open spot, then try to walk back to your preferred transition spot. The easiest way to test would be to temporarily move the module start point to that wide open spot, then  return it where it belongs once you're done.

Thanx Kamalpoe, but tried that in a completely different area just for a test - get the same result. Going to try the other scripts that Knightmare mentioned.

I definitely remember this mod. It was one of the few NWN2 mods I played more than once, including the OC. I look forward to the update and thank you for your hard work.
