Hello to alls dears fans of Mass Effect, I know that the moderators are going to hate me, but well... I have THE QUESTION of the year to ask Image IPB.

Thus I am the happy (future unfortunate?) new owner of a XBOX 360 Slim for this morning, and I indeed wonder how I can transfer the savings of Mass Effect 2 since my DD 120 Go elite on the hard disk of Xbox slim?

Knowing that bioware had (irreparable?) bad idea to make impossible the copy or even the movement of its savings of Mass Effect 2 on another DD than that where it are installed.

I thus waits with very big impatience for a possible solution, and I am sure that I shall not be the only one!
Thank so much  for ending my anxieties dear moderators Image IPB

PS: I know that there is a cable of special transfer which is going to be sold by Microsoft to make the migration, in the worst I hope that it will be the solution, but I indeed hope that it will be also possible with an USB key , because otherwise it will mean that it will another be necessary to pay out 15 $, and it would be pitiful.

I honestly don't think there is any way to transfer your saves other than using a transfer cable.

USB drive will work fine. Keep in mind you have to 'move' them, they will not 'copy'.

Having had the fun of doing this myself in the past week the way I had to do it was.

1) Copy/Move the original gamer profile from the Elite/Old 360 to the Slim

2) If you bought Bring Down the Sky on the original console, move that as well.

3) Load up ME1 and fight Saren one last time.

4) Make the decisions about whether you want Anderson or the senator to lead the council.

5) Wait for the end credits

6) Get back to the main menu.

7) switch to ME2 and import the character.

I think that you speak about the method to import the savings of ME 1 on the xbox slim and to launch then this one with ME 2, but in fact what imports me it is to transfer my saving of ME2 on the xbox slim, knowing that only the savings of ME2 are protected against the copy, for ME 1 no problem with a USB key .

Re, I thus made a success of the transfer by the method of the usb key, I made the operation with a key  "Transcend 8 GO", when the console had stopped preparing me the key, I had this message: " your key was prepared with succés but she does not answer all the standards for an optimal functioning on your console ", in brief I made all the same the transfer (not without stress) on my key and I had no problem during the transfer, in priori the not completely compatible keys work with no problem at all for the transfer, as long as the console managed to prepare the key.

As for the method of the Cable of transfer, it is necessary obsolutely whether it is an official cable, otherwise the console Will recognize your ancient DD as a simple usb peripheral and you risk to format it inadvertently! Be careful!

Here is the video tutoriel which explains the method of transfer by cable or key USB.

Can you specify what you have done? Stupid question maybe, but do you use the same gamertag on the new xbox?

It shouldn't be a problem to simply move from old HDD to USB to new HDD. The saves should be there. Are the saves visible from "Dashboard -> System Settings -> Hard Drive -> Games -> Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2"?

Yes, Same gamertag, All I did was insert my USB flash drive, I then checked if everything was still intact before transfer (ME1 and ME 2 saves were still there) I then transferred the content from the USB to the HDD and boom everything else transferred fine (Halo 3, ODST saves, FF13 saves etc) even the ME 2 Importer got transferred. I guess there was either corruption during transfer or Issues with the save and the new console. Just a bit of bad luck i guess. Nothing I can do over it now USB has nothing on it, just have to replay it. Oh well

Regarding transferring ME1 saves for import to ME2:

These save files are not the ones in your Mass Effect folder. When transferring on usb, you need to do the following steps from the dashboard:

1. Select system settings
2. Select memory
3. Select hard drive
4. Press Y to transfer content
5. Select destination device (your USB)

At the bottom of the list you now see there is something called "Publisher Data". This is where the Mass Effect saves for import are hidden. This is what you need to transfer. Go through all other folders (Games, demos etc) in the list and unselect everything, but make sure the publisher data is selected (the default is that everything on your hard drive is selected, so it can be quite the chore to unselect everything). Then start the transfer process.

The rest is simple. Just plug in the USB to the new Xbox and go through the same process, only now select your memory unit instead of hard drive in step 3 and the hard drive as the destination device. Transfer everything on your usb (or unselect if you have other stuff there you don't want to transfer). And voilà, your hidden ME1 saves are now on your new xbox and ready to import to ME2.

Actually, I didn't know either until just a couple of weeks ago, when I was about to move the content from my old xbox to my new slim. I was just lucky to find out before getting rid of my old box, since I wasn't getting the new one until a week later and thus had to store all my content on usb in the meantime. :)

thanks for the answer gaddmeister!!

i don't remember fine when i copy the save files from old xbox360 in to usb key..but i transfer the saved games with "y" comand in the hdd to usb and in fact i this moment i have 2 files, one is ME2 imported file and one is ME1 save, plus all the DLC files and the install files.

i hope to follow the right instruction to copy files...but i'm not certain:-(((

if you're sure to 100% the saves game works fine is your method then..... i have mistaken!!! ...and now i start ME2 from zero but the wrong think is the ME1 save lost with my character!! :-(((

thanks a lot gaddmeister:-))))
