My favorite race to play as is the Half elf. Something about being human and elf just intrigues me. Mostly for two reasons. 1. You are not of any one race and two you have morality and immortality in your possession. I've always found it interesting how a being could deal with both worlds.

Human for me, I find it harder to put myself into a non humans persona. I leave that to the npc's.
I appreciate a good, well developed, npc for that reason.

Humans. I used to love playing elves and half-elves years back. On rarer occasions I would try halflings too. I still like planetouched but haven't played one in ages. I find humans are my preference because I like their bonus feat and skill points. More importantly I dislike playing characters that are exotic by birth. Often it ends up as a focal point for the character's background, and that can be troublesome for someone who prefers humbler beginnings such as I. A tiefling, for example, has a family history of guaranteed weirdness. While that is fun to play at times, I prefer the flexibility and normalcy of humans.
As well, most classes I enjoy playing are fantastic enough without the racial aspect pitching in too.

My favorite has always been Elves. I figured many years ago (back in my early days of D&D and AD&D) that if I was going to play fantasy RPGs, I may as well go with an Elf for my first character. While hey have their advantages and disadvantages, that doesn't matter as much to me as the race itself.
Next in line is Half-Elves followed by Humans then Tieflings, I never cared much for playing other races.

Half-fiend feytouched kobold would be pretty cool. Next bet would probably be something like drow, just for the awesomeness. The whole evil history is a whole other story.
Personally, I've always found humans to be something of a double-edged sword - being a human, I empathise with them. They're also pretty flexible. However, in a game of many exciting races, they strike me as a tad "boring". Half-elves are similar, but I've always been put off them more for stats reasons than anything. I think if I had to pick a race as a whole, I'd probably go with elf.

Anyone but human !
I like a lot the planetouched in NWN2, they are very well done
Those genasi skin, face and air are very fun. Elf unless you use some custom head really looks bad.

Tieflings. Works well with my favourite class - rogue - based builds. Plus, horns.

Thats one of the reason I like playing elves in the games. I also like the planet touch in NWN2. Just because of their uniqueness. Though I prefer the more human kind. They have better attributes and better resistance. I'll also say thiefling just because if I'm evil of course I want to have horns.

I love playing as a Tiefling. Why? I like the horns and their demonic roots. :-)

Tiefling, I like how everyone expects me to be pure evul and then I prove them wrong. Also I think they're the prettiest.

Well i prefered elves when i started playing or half-elves, basically because i like their longlivity and their attunement to magic.
In later d&d editions i started liking the Aasimar, basically because it just feels nice to be a descendant of an "Angel" or celestial as they are called.

Thanks to SOZ, yuan-ti baby! I love having a snake lady, and the spell resistance is wonderful. Mostly I just like the fact that you can actually be a yuan-ti pureblood.

I kind of prefer dragons, personally. One day someone will design a game for me.

Always human, my epic builds always need the extra feat.

I used to really like elves and half elves but I got tired of it really fast with all the elf worship going around (not saying here, particularly but in other forums and games, etc). so i stick to humans, which, ironically enough, a lot of elf worshippers hate.
i also like tieflings but have yet to make a character.

Drow. And not for fantastic bonuses in almost everything! When I had started playing pen&paper only by very few months, I didn't know all the statistics of drow, but I got fascinated by they idea of a single good drow able to escape from the Underdark and to put things in a different way. (I have not read any novel about Drizzt, that was just an idea of mine)
Then I rolled my character and, instead of my famous misfortune with dices, I got incredibly good statistics. It took me almost a year to write a decent background with a lot of recalls from the manuals. I studied very hard her psychology and now... I can't play another character in the FR environment :-D

Dwarf. I like playing tough as nails characters and no race is as tough as dwarf.
Least favorite would be elves because they are paper thin sissies.

I play wizard, so I like Sun Elves and Deep Imaskari (from Kaedrin's). Sure, it's a bit of power-playing, but I like having plenty of spells. I also like they mystery and subtelty of elves and the Deep Imaskari. I enjoy using tactics and skills to accomplish my ends.
It is always rewarding when a burly dwarf finds himself suddenly held, slipping on grease, encased in a stinking cloud, and burning to death at the hands of a paper-thin sissy.
