I think rapid aim just increases attack speed, leliana has a longbow with it and she just pumps out arrows like they are nothing.

well rapid aim and haste, actually don't increase the dps much, you see that your char readies faster each shot, but still aims as slow. Well that is on my light armor warrior archer. Even with buffs, my actual attack speed is same as with a archer skill. Archers are really underpowered here .p

Slow attack speed, low damage, pretty much only good for pinning shot and scattershot to annoy some enemies

That's the DEX bug again...  It's like how the hotfix makes enemy archers more deadly, it should improve yours as well.

Lol you couldn't be more wrong here. Rogue archers are stupidly overpowered. I've been playing mine and pumping all my stat points into dexterity and wearing light armor. With the right selection of talents, you literally can NEVER be hit except by Area Affect spells.

For instance, I got to the boss fight at the end of the Paragon of her Kind quest line to win over Orzammar, and all of my party members ended up dying. I faced off about 3 shrieks, 2 genlock archers, AND the boss (and it's little... things) without dying. I popped maybe 4 lesser health potions. The boss was above half health as well.

Defensive Archery mode, plus the high dex, plus the prestige classes Assassin and Duelist make a totally unstoppable archer.

Seeing as how fighting the broodmother is not the end of that quest I have a hard time accepting the validity of your statement.

Yes, Rapid Aim increases your attack speed with ranged weapons, but just how much.. I mean, is it 0.1 seconds or what? And does the ability stack? If i have multiple items with Rapid Aim, is the effect cumulative to my attack speed?

And what about Messy Kills, is there any benefit to it besides it making the kills... well, messy?

Haven't used assasin, but I've had similar experiences. Once you get some of the top tier talents, and of course the attributes the back them up, the Archer is a killing machine.

The whole reason I made THIS THREAD is because I somewhat agree... but somewhat disagree.

Rogue Archers are Defensive stars, untouchable in mele at higher levels.

But they are never killing machines, and never put out huge damage, except for the first attack via "Arrow of Slaying" talent (which can only be used once per encounter due to long cooldown).

Gaucho_, not that your question has anything to do with the topic title, but that quest (the one you get at camp to go to Soldier's peak) is part of the Wardens keep expansion. You need to pay extra (buy points) to play in that zone and do that quest. So if you're doing the original campaign and have no intention of buying extra material right now, just ignore that guy.

Somewhat more on topic, do the duelist talents apply to ranged attacks?

Somewhat. The first one works with ranged, the second ability does not. The third passive does (Seeing it adds to the first). And the final ability doesn't work with ranged. Well I hear the effects does, but you have to use a melee weapon to activate it.

Nothing, all it does is increase the chance you get the slow-motion killing animation (which is cool enough to use it though).

If people in this thread would actually just post if they can answer the questions the op asked instead of hijacking the thread with nonsense gibberish about how overpowered/underpowered archers are it would be awesome.

I still haven't seen anyone present any actual evidence regarding what these two weapon mods do.
MartinJHolm provides information about messy kills but where is this information from? I just wanna read about it myself. I checked the dao wiki and the manual for the game and couldn't find anything.

Also what does Increases monetary gain do? I found it on a belt.
